It's nearly here - Wuthering Waves' update 3.0, which gives us a huge amount of stuff to do from building fresh teams, exploring a whole new region, and finding out where the game's story goes next. While we met Chisa already, with her gigantic scissors-themed weapon, we're about to head into Lahai-Roi, where she's from, and discover a whole new vibe of place in Solaris-3.
Kuro Games CEO Solon describes 'We Who See the Stars', Chapter III, as "a blend of mechanical science fiction and space romance", which is a different vibe to what we've seen before, with the addition of… romance? We're yet to see what this exactly entails, but if I can date Brant, then we're on to a winner.
Lahai-Roi introduces new combat challenges, including some end-game content, sonata effects, echoes, weapons designed to match the latest vibes, and of course, characters. The first characters heading up the Wuthering Waves banner in 3.0 are Lynae and Mornye, with plenty more to come. They both have a modern appearance and are five-stars heading up their own half of the banners.
The biggest addition, though, is that Wuthering Waves is doing the unthinkable and adding motorbikes! Though from the start the game has had much better traversal mechanisms than some other open-world games, a usable motorbike is going to be sick. Better yet, you can get some fun cosmetics for your bike, including Sonic and Persona 5, and Persona 3-themed decals and skins. Gotta go fast, am I right? I can't wait for a Ryuji-themed bike. Why not, eh?
Wuthering Waves also got a slew of awards recently, including Players' Voice at The Game Awards, Partner and User Choice Awards at the PlayStation Partner Awards, and Best Ongoing from Google Play. As a token of thanks, players all get 1,600 astrites - an entire ten-pull - right to their in-game mailboxes.
The big 3.0 update drops on December 25, and while we don't suggest you skip Christmas dinner, it does give you something to do once the presents wind down. Or a different way to spend the day if festivity isn't your thing (it's not mine either, I'm the Grinch).
