Please welcome to the stage the Captain of the Fool’s Troupe, Wuthering Waves’ Brant! We’ve got a build guide explaining what he does – which includes dealing damage, healing, shielding, and buffing – and what to equip him with. He can help you safely sail the seas and take down any enemy in your path.
We recommend you pull for Brant, so here are the new Wuthering Waves codes for some free astrite. You can check who else is on the Wuthering Waves banner and see where everyone ranks in our Wuthering Waves tier list.
Here’s everything in our Wuthering Waves Brant build guide:
What’s the best Wuthering Waves Brant build?
Brant is a five-star resonator who wields a sword and the fusion element. He can fill a few roles, but mainly dishes out damage with some healing during his resonance liberation.
Element | Fusion |
Rarity | Five-star |
Role | DPS or sub/dual-DPS |
Best weapon | Unflickering Valor |
Best echo set | Tidebreaking Courage |
Best echo | Dragon of Dirge |
Main stats | Crit rate/damage, energy regeneration, basic attack bonus, attack |

What’s the best weapon for Brant?
The best weapon for Brant is his signature sword, Unflickering Valor. It greatly adds to his crit rate and attack stat, along with giving a great boost to his basic attacks. There are other good options if you’re not in a position to pull a signature weapon and a new character.
Unflickering Valor | Stat: Energy regeneration Skill: Increases Brant’s crit rate. Using his resonance liberation gives a basic attack bonus for ten seconds, and dealing basic attack damage gives a further basic attack damage bonus for four seconds |

Emerald of Genesis | Stat: Crit rate Skill: Increases Brant’s energy regen. When he casts his resonance skill, his attack increases. This can stack twice and lasts for ten seconds Standard weapon banner |

Lumingloss | Stat: Attack Skill: When Brant uses his resonance skill, his basic and heavy attack damage increases. This lasts ten seconds and can trigger once every second |

Overture | Stat: Energy regen Skill: When Brant uses his resonance skill, he restores concerto energy. This effect can trigger once every 20 seconds |

What are the best Brant team comps?
Brant can deal plenty of damage on his own, but we recommend him in a dual-DPS team alongside Changli or Encore. His outro skill amplifies fusion damage, so it’s best to make use of this with another fusion DPS character. As he heals and can provide a shield, you don’t need a healer, so we also recommend Mortefi or Sanhua to boost performance.
What are the best echoes for Brant?
Here are the echo sets we recommend for Brant:
- Five-piece set: Tidebreaking Courage
- Two-piece sets: Tidebreaking Courage, Molten Rift, and Moonlit Clouds
These are the echoes we recommend you equip in the first slot so that Brant can transform into them on the field:
- Dragon of Dirge (Tidebreaking Courage)
- Nightmare: Inferno Rider (Molten Rift)
- Impermanence Heron (Moonlit Clouds)
Stat recommendations
Main stats:
- Crit rate/damage

What are Brant’s skills?
Active skills:
Basic attack | Captain’s Rhapsody Perform up to four consecutive strikes that deal fusion damage |
Heavy attack |
Brant consumes stamina to attack a target with fusion damage. Rhapsodic Riff |
Mid-air attack |
Perform up to four attacks that deal fusion damage. Pressing normal attack after stage one or two of his mid-air attack targets enemies with Grapple. Brant then attacks targets by swinging into them. – If Brant fails to reach a target with the Grapple swing of mid-air attack stage one, he instead performs a slash forward, dealing fusion damage |
Dodge counter | Using a normal attack right after a dodge attacks the target, dealing fusion damage |
Resonance skill | Anchors Aweigh! Brant launches into the air and shoots targets around him, dealing fusion damage. When in mid-air, if Bravo is not full, his resonance skill turns into a plunging attack. He then plunges at the targets, using stamina to deal fusion damage. This counts as basic attack damage.- If Brant fails to reach the target with the Grapple swing of his mid-air attack stage one, he performs a forward slash. Then press normal attack to perform a plunge attack – If Brant reaches the target with the Grapple swing, but the attack does not hit a target, pressing normal attack performs a plunging attack during the suspension |
Resonance liberation | To the Horizon Brant deals fusion damage to targets within range and heals nearby resonators. He then enters the Aflame state. Aflame Brant gains Bravo 100% faster when using normal attacks and resonance skills to hit targets. His forte circuit turns into My Moment. My Moment Brant gains attack based on his energy regen stat. For every 1% of his energy regen over 150%, he gains an additional 20 points of attack. This maxes out at 2,600 |
Passive skills:
Intro skill | Applaud for Me! Brant deals fusion damage to targets within his range and heals all resonators in the team. He then enters the Aflame state. Interlude Applause Brant’s next mid-air attack begins at stage two. This effect ends when Brant lands early or switches out |
Outro skill | The Course is Set! Brant amplifies the incoming resonator’s fusion damage by 20% and resonance skill damage by 25% for 14 seconds, or until the resonator switches out |
Forte circuit | Ocean Odyssey Theatrical Moment Brant gains additional attack based on his energy regen. For every 1% of his energy regen over 150%, Brant gains an additional 12 points of attack, up to 1,560 total. Waves of Acclaims Brant heals all resonators in the team when Bravo reaches 25, 50, 75, and 100. Returned from Ashes When Bravo is full, it replaces Brant’s resonance skill with Returned from Ashes. This consumes all Bravo points to deal fusion damage, which counts as basic attack damage and generates a shield. Bravo Brant can hold up to 100 Bravo at any one time. He gains Bravo when normal attacks, intro skills, and resonance skills hit targets |
Inherent skills:
Voyager’s Blaze | The healing provided by Waves of Acclaims increases by 20% |
Trial by Fire and Tide | Brant’s resistance to interruption increases during his mid-air attacks, and he gains a 15% fusion damage bonus |
Skill priority
- Forte circuit > resonance liberation > resonance skill > basic attack > intro skill
What is Brant’s resonance chain?
If you get lucky and pull an extra copy of Brant, or if you’re going for the full S6, then here are all of Brant’s resonance chain skills you can unlock:
S1 | By Currents and Winds Returned from Ashes causes nearby targets to stagnate while casting. The stagnation effect ends when Brant switches off the field. After casting his intro skill or mid-air attack, the damage Brant deals increases by 20% for five seconds, stacking up to three times |
S2 | For Smiles and Cheers Casting Brant’s mid-air attack and Returned from Ashes increases his crit rate by 30%. His outro skill gets a new enhancement – when an incoming resonator uses their resonance skill, Brant blasts the target they hit, which deals heavy fusion damage based on his attack stat. This can trigger once per second, and he can deal two explosions this way |
S3 | Through Storms I Sail The damage multiplier of Returned from Ashes increases by 42% |
S4 | To Freedom I Sing The shield Brant grants with Returned from Ashes increases by 20%. Casting Returned from Ashes restores HP for all teammates at a rate of 6.6 HP for every 1% of Brant’s energy regen stat |
S5 | All the World’s an Actor’s Stage Dealing basic attack damage gives Brant a 15% basic attack damage bonus for ten seconds |
S6 | All the World’s a Captain’s Carnevale Brant’s id-air attack damage multiplier increases by 30%. Casting Returned from Ashes causes a second blast, which deals fusion damage equal to 30% of the damage dealt by Returned from Ashes. This counts as basic attack damage |
