Just who is ZZZ’s Hugo, a mysterious man in a fancy suit who showed up at the bangboo fashion event? Here’s what we know about his past, his kit, and his squad mates. He uses the ice element and is an attack unit, meaning he’ll be a DPS character who dishes out plenty of heavy hits in combat.

Who is ZZZ’s Hugo?
Hugo Vlad is an S-rank male character, releasing in update 1.7 judging by the drip marketing schedule.
If you’re caught up with the game’s story, you’ll have seen him briefly appear in The Day of Brilliant Wishes event quest as an NPC with his own themed bangboo named Robin.
He also got an introduction as an ‘old acquaintance’ during ZZZ Lycaon’s story quest, where we see a younger Lycaon practicing lines as part of the Mockingbird faction. Hugo has grown out his hair since then and got a snazzier suit to wear.
Word on the internet is that Hugo Vlad is a vampire, given his pointed teeth, pointed ears, and the bats featured in the comic cutscene linked above. Also, there’s the whole ‘vampires vs werewolves’ trope, which he and Lycaon fit perfectly, given their falling out in the lore. Also, his name is Vlad… like Vlad Dracul, aka the Impaler, the inspiration for Dracula and Nosferatu.
What is the Mockingbird faction?
Hugo, and fellow upcoming character Vivian, are members of the Mockingbird faction. There isn’t too much information yet, but we do know that Lycaon was once a member. The group is made of ‘phantom thieves’.
So far, they messed around with Astra Yao’s microphone in the story, swapping out her Stars of Lyra tape for a different copy. It’s likely that their mischief will continue when we meet the faction in-game.
What do we know about ZZZ Hugo’s build?
Unfortunately, Hugo is an ice attack unit. That means he’s competing not only with ZZZ’s Ellen, but also Miyabi – the best DPS in the game. It’s likely that you can use him with both ZZZ’s Lighter or Lycaon as stun units, with Caesar or Astra for some extra oomph. You can see his animations and details of his kit due to leaks from the beta if you want a closer look at what he does.
At present, it’s unclear who his English voice actor is, though they sound similar to that of Genshin Impact’s Baizhu. In Chinese, he’s voiced by Liang Dawei, who also voices Genshin Impact’s Ororon and Honkai Star Rail’s Argenti. His Korean voice actor is Kim Hye-sung, who provides Honkai Star Rail Dan Heng and Imbibitor Lunae’s voice.
