The question on everyone’s minds is who really is Zenless Zone Zero’s Jane Doe? She’s an astonishingly good S-rank character that uses the physical attribute and is an anomaly-based attacker, who works with PubSec – sort of. She’s got a lot going on and can do some real damage in our teams. Scroll down to see what we know about ZZZ Jane Doe.

Here’s everything in our Zenless Zone Zero Jane build guide:
What is the best Jane Doe build?
Jane is an S-rank character who uses the physical element and deals anomaly damage.
Rank | S |
Attribute | Electric |
Specialty | Anomaly |
Attack type | Slash |
Best W-engine | Sharpened Stinger |
Best drive discs | 4pc Fanged Metal and 2pc Freedom Blues/Chaos Jazz |
Main stats | -Disc 4: Anomaly proficiency -Disc 5: Physical damage% -Disc 6: Anomaly mastery |
Sub-stats | Anomaly proficiency > attack > energy regeneration |
The best w-engine for Jane is her signature S-rank, Sharpened Stinger. A four-piece set of fanged metal with a two-piece set of freedom blues will amplify Jane’s physical damage and anomaly proficiency. When picking specific disks for her, prioritize those with anomaly proficiency main and sub-stats – you want to aim for at least 300 anomaly proficiency.
She can apply the assault state onto enemies reliably, upping her damage and doing some eye-wateringly high assault damage – even at MC0 and without her signature weapon, we’ve found she can do between 100k – 250k with assault each time. Even during Jane Doe’s demo on her banner, she reached 400k in training with no teammates or mindscape cinemas unlocked.

If you’ve played Hoyoverse’s other games, her playstyle can be reminiscent of Honkai Star Rail’s Boothill, in that she needs a specific stat and a particular team with Zenless Zone Zero’s Seth Lowell to truly excel – however, once you build her with a high enough anomaly proficiency stat, you’ll be dishing out hundreds of thousands of damage at once.
How to use Jane Doe
Now, getting these gigantic numbers out of Jane requires a certain rotation. You can use her on her own, or with a team, but the key is to build her Passion Stream – this is marked by the meter in the top left, under her health bar.
To build Passion Stream, it’s best to use Jane’s dodges, normal attacks, and ultimate. Once the Passion Stream meter is full, use her EX special, special, and normal attacks to inflict assault on enemies, which can easily deal well upwards of 200k depending on your build. If you hold her basic attack, Jane does a charged spin attack when the skill is available. This is marked by a dot next to the meter.
To best use Jane, you want to keep that meter full as much as you can. Using her special during Passion Stream will deplete the meter faster, so we recommend using it outside of the state, or when Passion Stream is full.
What’s Jane Doe’s best W-engine?
Jane Doe’s best w-engine overall is her signature, Sharpened Stinger, which gives her a boost to her physical damage and anomaly buildup. You can use some other w-engines to get good damage out of her, too – just make sure you use anomaly-aligned options to activate the skill. The next best option is the Rainforest Gourmet, especially at higher refinement levels.
ZZZ Grace‘s signature weapon is a great replacement, however may not be easy to get. This is also best used in a team with Rina or Grace – as the main stat gives penetration ratio to Jane. If you use this w-engine, make sure to use Jane’s skill or EX skill three times in a row to get the biggest bonus for her anomaly proficiency.
Sharpened Stinger | Stat: Anomaly proficiency Skill: When using a dash attack, Jane gains one stack of Predatory Instinct. each stack increases her physical damage by 12% for ten seconds. This can stack three times and can trigger once every 0.5 seconds. When entering combat, or triggering a perfect dodge, Jane gains three stacks. When at maximum stacks, Jane’s anomaly buildup rate increases |

Rainforest Gourmet | Stat: Anomaly proficiency Skill: For every ten energy Jane consumes, she gains a buff that increases her attack by 2.5% for ten seconds, stacking up to ten times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately |

Electro Lip Gloss | Stat: Anomaly proficiency Skill: When there are enemies inflicted with attribute anomalies on the field, Jane’s attack increases, and she deals an additional 15% more damage to the target |
New Eridu City Fund |
Weeping Gemini | Stat: Attack Skill: When a squad member inflicts an attribute anomaly on an enemy, Jane gains a buff that increases her anomaly proficiency by 30, stacking up to four times. This effect expires when the target recovers from Stun or gets defeated. The duration of each stack is calculated separately |

Fusion Compiler | Stat: Penetration ratio Skill: Increases Jane’s attack. When using a special attack or an EX special attack, her anomaly proficiency increases by 25 for eight seconds, stacking up to three times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately |

What are Jane’s best drive discs?
The best set of drive discs to give Jane is a four-piece set of Fanged Metal and a two-piece set of Freedom Blues. If you’re struggling to get a full set, or a set with good stats (don’t worry, me too), you can use a two-piece set of hormone punk to add to her attack in the meantime, but this isn’t the endgame to aim for.
Jane benefits most from an anomaly proficiency stat of at least 300, but adding some crit damage and crit rate helps to get her assault numbers even bigger when they hit.
Fanged Metal | Two-piece set: Increases physical damage by 10% Four equipped: Whenever a squad member inflicts Assault on an enemy, Jane deals 35% more damage on the target for 12 seconds |
Freedom Blues | Two-piece set: Increases anomaly proficiency Four-piece set: When an EX special attack hits an enemy, reduce the target’s anomaly buildup resistance to physical damage by 20% for eight seconds. This effect does not stack with others of the same attribute |
Chaos Jazz | Two pieces: Increases anomaly proficiency |
Stat recommendations

What are the best Jane Doe team comps?
Jane works best with PubSec officer Seth by her side, but you can slot her into some other teams. Really, she does so much damage on her own that you barely need teammates. On a personal note, I find chain attacks get in the way of building her passion meter, but it depends on what you prefer.
Remember to keep Jane before Seth in your lineup so that she gets the buff from him, as his assist swaps backward. Lucy and Rina, on the other hand, swap forwards – so Jane can make use of their boosts when quick swapping in these team comps. Using Rina also activates all three teammate’s passive abilities, whereas Lucy does not.
What are Jane’s skills?
Jane’s kit mainly revolves around dealing physical damage to enemies in varying amounts using kicks and sweeps, with huge damage potential coming from inflicting assault on enemies. She has the Passion State that she enters, which improves her damage and gives her some nice extra benefits.
Attacks
Basic attack | Dancing Blades Jane unleashes up to six attacks in front of her, dealing physical damage Passion When Jane triggers perfect dodge, defensive assist, or deals damage to the enemy, she accumulates Passion Stream. When she reaches the maximum, she enters the Passion state. This makes Jane’s physical anomaly buildup rate increase by 25%. If her anomaly proficiency exceeds 120, each extra point raises her attack stat by two (up to a maximum of 600). Jane’s damage-dealing skills consume Passion Stream. Using a perfect dodge or defensive assist regenerates Passion Stream. She exits this state when all of the Stream is used up |
Basic attack | Salchow Jump Entering the Passion state grants Jane one use of Salchow Jump. Holding the basic attack button allows her to launch quick strikes and a finishing move, dealing physical damage. You can also trigger this by releasing the basic attack button. Her anti-interrupt level increases during these attacks, and she takes 40% less damage. She is invulnerable during the finishing move. Using this move while in the Passion state generates Passion Stream |
Special attack | Aerial Sweep Jane jumps into the air and kicks forward, followed by a sweep, which deals physical damage. Her anti-interrupt level increases when using this |
EX special attack | Aerial Sweep – Clearout Jane does consecutive kicks forward, followed by a sweep, dealing massive physical damage. She is invulnerable while using this skill |
Dodges
Dodge | Phantom Jane does a quick slide dodge to the side. She is invulnerable using this skill. Jane has two dodges that she can use outside of the Passion state. Once in it, she can pass through enemies in front of her while dodging |
Dash attack | Edge Jump After her first dodge, you can launch an upward attack at enemies in front, dealing physical damage. After her second dodge, you can perform consecutive dodges in front, dealing physical damage |
Dash attack | Phantom Thrust While in the Passion state, press the basic attack during a dodge to launch three quick slashes in front of Jane, dealing physical damage |
Dodge counter | Swift Shadow Dance When in the Passion state, press the basic attack during a perfect dodge to slash at enemies in front of Jane, dealing physical damage. She is invulnerable while using this skill |
Combo attacks
Quick assist | Dark Thorn Jane has two quick assist moves, which trigger when an on-field character (other than herself) gets launched by an enemy. Swapping to Jane can unleash Dark Thorn which sees her hit targets multiple times. She becomes invulnerable during this skill |
Quick assist | Lutz Jump If Jane is currently in the Passion state and an on-field character (other than herself) gets launched by an enemy, you can swap to Jane to counter with her quick assist. This deals heavy physical damage to targets. She becomes invulnerable during this skill |
Defensive assist | Last Defense Jane can perform a defensive assist – swap to her when the current character is about to get attacked. Jane then parries the attack, while inflicting heavy daze on the target. She becomes invulnerable during this skill |
Assist follow-up | Gale Sweep Jane can launch an assist follow-up where she jumps at enemies and deals physical damage to all in a small range. She becomes invulnerable when using this skill |
Chain attack | Flowers of Sin When a teammate triggers a chain attack, you can swap to Jane to unleash her skill. She weaves between enemies on the field, hitting them all and dealing physical damage. Jane also enters the Passion state, gaining maximum Passion Stream. She becomes invulnerable when using her ultimate |
Chain attack ultimate | Final Curtain Once the team’s decibel rating hits the maximum of 3k points, Jane can use her ultimate. This sees her hit multiple targets with quick attacks, with a Finishing Move that deals huge physical damage to all targets nearby. Using her ultimate also fills her Passion Stream and so puts her in the Passion state. She becomes invulnerable when using her ultimate |
Passive skills
Core passive | Insight When Jane attacks an enemy, they enter the Gnawed state. This lasts for ten seconds. If a teammate or Jane then triggers Assault on the enemy in the Gnawed state, they then get the Flinch effect which extends the duration by five seconds. Assault damage can crit, with a base rate of 31%, and damage of 50%. Jane’s anomaly proficiency stat increases this crit rate by 0.13% per point |
Additional ability | Sore Spot If a teammate is an anomaly character or a member of PubSec like Jane, you gain a bonus: Jane’s physical anomaly buildup rate increases by 20%, and if an enemy gets hit with assault (or any other attribute anomaly), her physical anomaly buildup rate increases against that target by 15% |
Skill priority
When choosing which of Jane’s skills to level up, we recommend prioritizing them like so:
- Core skill > dodge > special attack > basic attack > chain attack > assist
What are Jane’s mindscape cinemas?
Jane has some really good mindscape cinemas, if you have the chance to get more than one copy of her, we suggest you go for it to make her a really good DPS option. MC1 and MC2 are excellent for increasing her damage.
01 | Crime Counsel Jane can use her Salchow Jump (basic attack) one extra time. Her physical anomaly buildup rate increases by 15% as well, and each point of her anomaly proficiency stat increases her personal damage by 0.1%. This can give her up to a 30% boost |
02 | Adapt to the Environment When Jane attacks, or if her teammates trigger Assault, on an enemy currently in the Gnawed state, it ignores 15% of the target’s defense. When Assault crits, the damage dealt by it increases by 50% for that instance |
03 | Anonymity Jane’s basic attack, dodge, assist, special attack, and chain attack levels increase by two |
04 | Adapt and Thrive If a teammate triggers either Assault or Disorder on an enemy, the entire team’s anomaly damage increases by 18%. This lasts for 15 seconds |
05 | Compulsive Hoarder Jane’s basic attack, dodge, assist, special attack, and chain attack levels increase by two |
06 | “Shady” Technique When Jane is in the passion state, her crit rate increases by 20%, and her crit damage increases by 40%. If she or a teammate triggers Assault on an enemy, Jane immediately enters the Passion state and her Passion Stream completely fills. If Assault crits, Jane can hit targets with an extra attack that deals huge physical damage, equal to 1,600% of her anomaly proficiency stat |
