Look out, bad guys, our ZZZ Seth build is here to keep the peace! As a new member of the New Eridu Pub Sec’s Criminal Investigation Special Response Team, this passionate rookie is doing his best to keep the streets clean, be it taking down ethereals or bringing a smile to our faces with his adorable, fluffy tail. So let’s take a look at his best drive discs, W-engines, and more.

Of course, Seth isn’t the only member of N.E.P.S. If you want to familiarize yourself with his colleagues, be sure to check out our Zenless Zone Zero characters guide, then see how they rank on our Zenless Zone Zero tier list. We’ve also got all the new Zenless Zone Zero codes with plenty of freebies for you to snap up, as well as a full Zenless Zone Zero events schedule so you never miss a thing.

Here’s everything in our ZZZ Seth build guide.

What is the best Seth build?

ZZZ’s Seth is an A-rank defense agent who deals electric damage with heavy-hitting slash attacks. Thanks to his defense specialty, he has strong survivability and excels at tanking enemy attacks then dishing out counterattacks in return.

Here’s a brief overview of our ZZZ Seth build:

Rank A
Attribute Electric
Specialty Defense
Attack type Slash
Best W-engine Peacekeeper – Specialized
Best drive discs 4pc Swing Jazz, 2pc Hormone Punk
Main stats
  • Disc 4: Attack ratio / anomaly proficiency
  • Disc 5: Attack ratio / electric damage%
  • Disc 6: Energy regen / anomaly mastery
Sub-stats Attack ratio > anomaly proficiency > attack > pen

Seth’s best W-engine is Peacekeeper – Specialized. It’s his signature W-engine and is perfectly tailored to his kit, boosting his energy regen and anomaly build-up. His best drive disc set is four-pieces of Swing Jazz and two pieces of Hormone Punk, which offers a team-wide damage buff as well as a boost to his personal attack.

As Seth’s shield scales off his attack, attack ratio is his most important stat. Aside from this, anomaly proficiency and anomaly mastery are always welcome as they allow him to inflict enemies with shock more reliably.

How to use Seth

Seth’s kit focuses on him using his riot shield to dish out heaps of dazing electric attacks, disarming enemies and giving his teammates the perfect opportunity to strike.

His core passive allows him to generate an attack-scaling shield for both himself and his allies when he uses his EX Special Attack This shield is a bit more substantial than Zenless Zone Zero’s Ben‘s, and is very handy in battles against heavy-hitting bosses and large groups of enemies.

If you pair Seth up with at least one other electric agent or another member of the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team, he can also shred enemy anomaly resistance when he hits them with his chain attack or the final strike of his basic attack combo. This further enhances his ability as an enabler and support, making him even more valuable.

Therefore we highly recommend pairing Seth up with another electric agent like ZZZ Grace, or putting him alongside his fellow N.E.P.S. members like ZZZ Jane Doe and ZZZ Zhu Yuan. For more info on his best squads and what role he plays in them, be sure to check out the team comp section below.

What are Seth’s best W-engines?

Seth’s signature W-engine is Peacekeeper – Specialized. It boosts his energy regen whenever he’s shielded, while also boosting the anomaly buildup of his EX special attacks and assist follow-ups, allowing him to shock enemies more reliably.

The A-rank Spring Embrace is a solid alternative for Seth. It offers a welcome boost to his attack ratio that can help increase his shield, while also reducing his damage taken and providing a transferable energy generation boost whenever an enemy attacks him. Unfortunately, this W-engine is only available through the premium version of the New Eridu City Fund, so it’s not an option for F2P players.

Alternatively, Bunny Band at S5 is a decent back-up W-Engine for Seth, but doesn’t compare to Peacekeeper – Specialized or Spring Embrace due to its defense main stat and situational benefits. The combat attack buff it offers also doesn’t impact his shield capacity, and its defensive stats don’t scale with his kit. Therefore we recommend only using this one if you don’t have either of the options listed above.

Here are ZZZ Seth’s best W-engines:

Peacekeeper – Specialized Stat: attack ratio
Skill:
while shielded, Seth’s energy regen increases. The anomaly buildup of EX special attacks and assist follow-ups also increases
Limited or standard banner
Spring Embrace Stat: attack ratio
Skill: reduces damage taken. When an enemy attacks Seth, his energy regeneration rate increases for 12 seconds. When he leaves the field, this buff transfers to the new active character with its duration refreshed. Passive effects of the same name do not stack
New Eridu City Fund
Bunny Band Stat: defense ratio
Skill: increases max HP. Also increases Seth’s attack ratio when he’s shielded
Limited or standard banner

What are the best drive discs for Seth?

Seth’s best drive disc set is four pieces of Swing Jazz. The Swing Jazz four-piece set bonus is ideal for most situations, offering a team-wide damage boost after Seth uses his chain attack or ultimate. This is very valuable, especially following a chain attack before switching to your main DPS. The only caveat is that this set is most useful in team comps where you’re regularly stunning enemies.

We recommend combining the four-piece set of Swing Jazz with two pieces of Hormone Punk. This offers an additional 10% attack boost, which enhances his shield further. However, if you already have a decent amount of attack and are happy with his shielding capabilities, you can instead opt for two pieces of Shockstar Disco to increase his daze effect. This can help you stun enemies more frequently, therefore increasing the chance of activating chain attacks and triggering Swing Jazz’s four-piece bonus more frequently.

Alternatively, four pieces of Freedom Blues is a strong option for Seth in shock or disorder-focused teams. It shreds enemy electric anomaly buildup resistance, which can be very useful when he’s paired up with a strong electric DPS. However, it doesn’t fully compare with four pieces of Swing Jazz in most scenarios.

We recommend pairing the four-piece Freedom Blues set with two pieces of Swing Jazz to increase Seth’s energy regen. Alternatively, you can once again go for Hormone Punk to boost his shields, or Shockstar Disco to boost his daze effect.

Here are ZZZ Seth’s best drive discs:

Swing Jazz Two pieces: increases energy regen by 20%
Four pieces: launching a chain attack or ultimate increases all squad members’ damage by 15% for 12 seconds. Passive effects of the same type don’t stack
Freedom Blues Two pieces: increases anomaly proficiency by 30
Four pieces: when Seth’s EX special attack hits an enemy, it reduces the target’s electric anomaly buildup res by 20% for eight seconds. This effect does not stack with others of the same attribute
Hormone Punk Two pieces: increases attack by 10%
Shockstar Disco Two pieces: increases impact by 6%

Seth stat recommendations

When picking drive discs for Seth, we recommend prioritizing the following stats.

Main stats:

  • Disc 4: Attack ratio / anomaly proficiency
  • Disc 5: Attack ratio / electric damage%
  • Disc 6: Energy regen / anomaly mastery

Sub-stats:

  • Attack ratio > anomaly proficiency > attack > pen

What are Seth’s best team comps?

Seth is a great support and enabler in a variety of teams.

He’s currently the best support for anomaly characters like Jane Doe, inflicting enemies with a crucial 20% flat anomaly res shred, which amplifies all anomaly build-up against them. He can also grant the next squad member in his team up to 100 anomaly proficiency, which can dramatically enhance Jane’s damage output, and also helps with her core passive bonus.

But don’t worry if you don’t have Jane – Seth can still shine in other team comps. Seth and Anton synergize surprisingly well. This is due to the fact that Anton relies on hitting shocked enemies to maximize his damage, so he appreciates Seth’s anomaly res as it allows his team to build up shock much quicker. Grace is a brilliant addition to this team, but if you don’t have her, Anby is also a solid choice.

Nekomata also appreciates Seth’s anomaly res shred as it allows her to trigger assault more frequently, which in turn buffs her next EX special attack’s damage. Pair these two with Anby to get the additional ability bonuses, and you’ve got a surprisingly solid team.

Who is Zenless Zone Zero’s Seth?

Seth Lowell is a member of the New Eridu Public Security’s Criminal Investigation Special Response Team. He’s a handsome lad with white hair, animal-like ears, and a fluffy tail who first shows up during the pre-launch special program, where we see him alongside fellow N.E.P.S. members Zenless Zone Zero’s Zhu Yuan, Zenless Zone Zero’s Qingyi, and Jane Doe.

According to his entry in the New Eridu archive, Seth is a passionate, hard worker who’s currently learning the ropes in Zhu Yuan’s team. He looks forward to the day that he’ll be able to hold his own in his job – and, according to Zhu Yuan in Seth’s agent record, she doesn’t think it’ll be long before he gets to that point. However, another N.E.P.S. constable states “the road ahead is still long yet.”

Seth’s agent record also features a quote from a criminal, which states that Seth “tries as hard as ever when it comes to gritting his teeth and refusing to cry,” but, on the other hand, some ‘indistinct yet striking figures’ claim that Seth’s “known around here for being pretty shady and well connected if you get my drift.”

Who are Seth’s voice actors?

Seth’s English VA is Nazeeh Tarsha, an American actor who has a heap of roles under his belt, including fellow handsome Hoyoverse husbando, Genshin Impact’s Alhaitham.

Seth’s JP VA. Takanashi Kengo is also accomplished in this field, providing the voice of Link in BoTW, Tears of the Kingdom, Super Smash Bros, and more, and his CN VA is 修缘, who you may recognize as the voice of multiple characters in the delicious RPG Food Fantasy including Chicken Steak, Cypress Cake, and more.

That’s all we’ve got on Zenless Zone Zero’s Seth for now. If you fancy more Hoyo-flavored gacha game goodness, be sure to check out our Genshin Impact codes and Honkai Star Rail codes, then head over to our Genshin Impact tier list and Honkai Star Rail tier list to work out who to build next.
