You can now play as Zangetsu in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Zangetsu mode provides a faster-paced experience for returning players

Zangetsu in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

NetEase has just updated its mobile version of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night with a brand new Zangetsu Mode, which allows you to play through the story all over again as the eponymous character. Zangetsu brings with him exclusive items, including a chain hook, double jump, and the ability to change his weapons’ attributes.

The best part? You can unlock Zangetsu for free by simply clearing the main story with the good ending and downloading the update. Zangetsu – who looks almost exactly like emo Prince of Persia from Warrior Within – feels totally different to play. You can pull enemies towards you with the chain hook, fire off different weapon effects by changing attributes mid-battle, and perform a variety of attacks with your samurai sword.

Also, NetEase has made a few cunning changes to the core experience. All NPCs and new scenes are hidden, and there are no treasure chests. All gates are also open by default, enemies don’t drop shards, items, or gold, and all animations skip by default. It’s a super fast-paced mode that will appeal to those who have mastered the experience.

If you’d like to check out Zangetsu mode, simply grab Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night from the App Store or Google Play. If this is your first time playing on mobile, bear in mind that you do need to complete the main campaign with the good ending to unlock Zangetsu.
