Masahiro Sakurai, the famed creator of Super Smash Bros. and Kirby, has launched his own YouTube channel. The channel, called ‘Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games’, is dedicated to exploring game-making fundamentals in a way everyone can understand.
In his first video about the channel, Sakurai says that he wants to help make games more fun, which is a noble aim. There’s another video running through the games he’s worked on, alongside the most recent video explaining what hit stops are, which you can check out below. Masahiro Sakurai’s YouTube channel already has 100k subscribers only five hours after he shared it on Twitter.
What Sakurai moving to YouTube means for his future is unclear. Obviously, it’s an excellent resource for anyone even slightly interested in making games, given his 30-year experience working on some of the biggest Nintendo titles. But, given he ’insisted he’s stepping away from work on Super Smash Bros. after previous games’ releases, it feels like this time he means it for real.
