Netflix is moving beyond mobile games into the triple-A space

A job listing reveals that Netflix Games is working on a “brand new AAA PC game” as they look to build on their already impressive mobile game selection

Netflix’s move into the videogame space has been slow and steady, but since it started, the mobile games it offers on its service have become mightily impressive. Immortality, Spiritfarer, Desta: The Memories Between, Oxenfree, Into The Breach, Poinpy, and Moonlighter is just a handful of the great stuff available.

Now, however, as reported by MobileGamer.biz, a Netflix PC game is in development at an LA studio, according to a job listing on its careers site. The listing is for a Game Director at the amusingly anonymous place called “Game Studio” to work on a “brand new AAA PC game”.

The aims of the game seem pretty clear, even at this early stage: “Creating a great game that players want to come back to repeatedly is our primary goal”, the listing states, “you will be able to create, ship and run a game without any competing design constraints due to monetization.” Sounds interesting.

What do we know about the Netflix PC game?

There are limited details on the in-development Netflix PC game. So far we know that Netflix aim for something “players want to come back to repeatedly […] without any competing design constraints due to monetization”, alongside mentions of “cooperative and competitive” and “social systems”. That’s all we know so far.

You can check out the trailer for the most recent addition to its roster, the excellent Immortality, below.
