Apple’s OLED iPad plans could be very, very expensive

Rumours of a new OLED iPad Pro have been around for a while, but new sources suggest these plans could push Apple’s tablet to a staggering new starting price

Apple’s plans to switch to OLED panels for 2024’s iPad Pro models could push the price far beyond the current amount. Apple supposedly wants to move from its current MiniLED displays to OLED for a better experience.

However, sources cited by The Elec (via MacRumors) suggest that Apple is considering its pricing strategy for these new models, with the 11-inch estimate at $1,500 and the 13-inch at $1,800. That’s a $700 increase for both, an eye-watering amount.

The report suggests that Apple’s OLED panel requirements increase the cost, as the company is in talks with Samsung and LG to supply the panels. The price jump is supposedly from around $100/$150 to $270 and $350 for Apple’s 11-inch and 13-inch panels respectively.

Either way, the price jump is extreme, and it’s hard to say if OLED iPad Pro models are enough to sway loyal Apple fans or just a step too far in terms of cost. Check out the trailer for the latest iPad model below.
