Mythical Mew and more eligible for Pokémon VGC season 13

The iconic Pokémon Mew is coming to Pokémon’s VGC format in season 13, alongside a bunch of mysterious mythicals from generations past

Pokémon Sword and Shield’s long-running competitive VGC format is shaking things up for season 13, introducing mythical Pokémon for the first time. That means, for the first time ever, you can jump into a tournament game with Jirachi, Mew, or any of the mythical Pokémon available from times gone by.

So, if you want to join in on the Pokémon VGC Season 13 mythical Pokémon challenge, you don’t have too long to wait, with the new season running from September 1 through until October 31. That’s almost two whole months of mythical madness, with Celebi and Victini helping you rise through the ranks to Master Ball status.

As we mentioned earlier, this is the first time in the VGC format that these fan favourite mythical Pokémon have been allowed entry, so there will be a lot of trial-and-error movesets seen at the start of the season. Mew in particular might excel as the competition progresses, thanks to their endless movepool of learnable TMs.

Jirachi, Celebi, and Victini are no pushovers either, and, with their diverse typing, it’s possible to put together a team full of mythical Pokémon for VGC season 13. However, on the official rulings for next season, there’s no shortage in regularly old over-powered legendary Pokémon too, so don’t be surprised to see a super-powered fire-type to counter Jirachi.
