Trek to Yomi is making the journey to Nintendo Switch

Devolver Digital has announced a Trek to Yomi Switch release date, giving the black-and-white feudal Japanese sword fighting game the portable treatment

Trek to Yomi, a sidescrolling platform action game from Flying Wild Hog and Devolver Digital, is coming to Nintendo Switch at the end of the month. Set in the Edo period of feudal Japan, the game puts you in the shoes of a swordsman on a quest for vengeance.

The game plays with the black-and-white aesthetic, using colour sparingly, as well as playing with Japanese mythology and folklore. The game reviewed reasonably well on other platforms, with around a 70/100 on Metacritic for the various consoles it’s available on.

Having played a little bit myself, it’s a deeply atmospheric game, with great visuals and sound – though I never saw how far its combat system actually went. We’ll have to wait and see how well this stylised adventure actually translates to the slighter hardware of the Nintendo Switch.

When is the Trek to Yomi Switch release date?

Trek to Yomi launches on the Nintendo Switch on January 30, 2023. Developed by Flying Wild Hog and published by Devolver Digital, it tells the story of a lone swordsman, Hiroki, on a quest for vengeance. You can check out the trailer below.
