Just in case there aren’t enough Metroidvania games in the world (clue: there’s never enough Metroidvania games), a new one has just launched on Kickstarter and it looks incredible. Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus pulls inspiration from titles like Hollow Knight, Ókami, Paper Mario, and the movies of Studio Ghibli.
Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus also features a beautiful hand-drawn animation style that looks incredible in motion. The developers describe the title as “A 2.5D side-scrolling action platformer with metroidvania elements that merges classic hand-drawn animation and scenery with new atmospheric bells and whistles that make the experience wondrously novel yet cosily familiar”. If that sounds like your thing then definitely check out the Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus Kickstarter.
The game has already met its Kickstarter goal – including a Nintendo Switch port – and is now working towards stretch goals. The next goal is for an “animated anime-style intro with music” and while hidden, the devs do have goals for further funding. The project already looks incredible, so we hope to see it completed and available before too long. But this is a great chance to support an impressive project.
You can watch the trailer to see this beautiful project in motion.
