Digimon Con – what to expect, how to watch, and more

Digimon are the champions once more, with the very first Digimon Con streaming later this month

Digimon Con is nearly upon us! Bandai Namco is following in the footsteps of Sonic, Pokémon, and many more, by bringing their own live presentation to fans worldwide for the first time. With at least one game in the pipeline, and rumours of more to come, we can’t wait to see what the world of Digimon has in store for the near future.

In this guide, we’ll cover all the essential aspects of the upcoming Digimon Con, and do our best cyber sleuth impression, as we speculate what surprises might emerge from the stream. Of course, it’s not just games news we’ll get either, as the pre-stream press promises new information on the Digimon anime, as well as a special performance by Ayumi Hamasaki, Japan’s highest-selling solo artist. Maybe she’s a Patamon fan?

To keep you busy while you wait for Digimon Con, why not jump into another franchise full of battling creatures with our guides to Pokémon Legends: Arceus alpha Pokémon, Pokémon Legends: Arceus legendaries, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus mystery gift. Or, if you love the classic monster hijinks but want a fresh game world to have them in, check out our list of the best Switch games like Pokémon.

When is Digmon Con?

The inaugural Digimon Con takes place on February 26 for those in the U.S at 17:00 PST or 20:00 EST. Digimon fans in the UK and Japan get the stream on February 27, at 01:00 and 10:00, respectively.

What games will be announced at Digimon Con?

While there isn’t any official word, or leak, on what we’ll get at Digimon Con, we do have a few guesses. It would be no surprise at all to finally get a Digimon Survive release date, an exciting visual novel with strategy elements, following years of development and false dawns. The game was announced way back in 2018, initially with a 2020 release window, so with four years having passed, we’re hoping that some good news is on the horizon.

There’s also a chance we might get word of a new Digimon World, or Digimon Cyber Sleuth game, with no new entries into either series since 2016. Long-time fans are desperate to see either of the series return to the forefront, but there’s always a chance Bandai Namco could throw us a curveball and announce something completely new, or even a remaster.

Where can I stream Digimon Con?

You can follow this link to the official Bandai Namco YouTube page where Digimon Con will stream live. Or watch it right here on Pocket Tactics.

What language can I stream Digmon Con in?

The event will stream in both English and Japanese. Like what we’ve seen from Nintendo Direct presentations in the past, there will be some small differences between the two streams, so it’s worth watching both if you’re a Digimon superfan.

With that, you know as much as we do about the upcoming Digimon Con. We’ll keep an ear to the ground in the build-up to the event, so be sure to check back to this page for any further updates. While you wait, why not see what you missed in the February Nintendo Direct, including a slew of exciting announcements.
