It feels like sincere mash-ups are a dying art, but this incredible Eminem x Mario mash-up has taken me back to the days of Wii Sports remixes and cuts of Beyoncé over Kirby music. The talented dustin1776 has posted on Reddit a brilliant and painstakingly tuned marriage of Eminem’s seminal hit Lose Yourself from 8 Mile, mixed with the Level 1 theme from Super Mario Bros.
There’s something fascinatingly hypnotic about this as not only have they been mashed together to work surprisingly well, but the extra effort of putting the original music video over footage of the original Super Mario Bros is the icing on the cake. I can’t say I’ll be putting this in my DJ sets, but it’s going to be stuck in my head for a while.
