Double Fine has announced that they’re releasing their cult classic adventure game Grim Fandango physically, with the help of iam8bit. The release brings with it some extra collectables and will release sometime early next month for $34.99.

Alongside the Grim Fandango physical Switch case and cartridge, there’s also a reversible cover, an exclusive o-sleeve cover, a golden train ticket, and a matchbook notebook from the Calavera Cafe. Double Fine made clear in a tweet announcing the release that the matchbook does not come with matches.

Originally released in 1998 by LucasArts (and originally directed by Double Fine head honcho Tim Schafer), Grim Fandango was subsequently remastered for multiple platforms in 2014, before making it way to the Nintendo Switch in 2018. It’s one of the best adventure games, a true classic, receiving rave reviews at the time and leaving a long-standing legacy. If you’re a fan of stuff by Telltale and their ilk, Grim Fandango is an absolute must-play. Or if you’re a fan of Tim Schafer, this was the second project he led at LucasArts all those years ago, having worked on the Monkey Island series.

When is the Grim Fandango physical Switch release?
