The Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra release date is finally here for iOS and Android, with news of the Steam release said to come soon. Fans of the anime series can finally jump back into the dangerous world of magical girls and witches.
The universe itself is based on an anime that came out way back in 2011, and the first mobile game to come from it, Magia Record, is extremely popular with fans and actually produced its own anime. So, players were understandably excited when Aniplex initially announced the project.
When was the Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra release date?
Madoka Magika: Magia Exedra came out on iOS and Android on March 27, 2025. According to the Steam page, it's also due to launch on PC (and hopefully the Steam Deck) at some point later this year.
The game is a follow-up of the sadly sunsetted (in English, at least), Magia Record. It's been a good few years since Magia Record's English version was shut down in 2020, so Magia Exedra will hopefully give fans a spiritual successor to a much-loved mobile game.

As the game is out on mobile, you can no longer pre-register on iOS or Android, but Steam users can wishlist the game ready for its launch later this year.

What is Puella Magi Madoka Magica?
The franchise started as a Japanese anime that came out way back in 2011, and from it came the 2013 Rebellion movie as well as a number of manga and short stories. The first game, Magia Record, actually inspired its own anime series that ran for three seasons, and the main Madoka Magica series is rumored to get a continuation this year with the Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten movie.
Madoka Kaname is the series' main protagonist, a sweet eighth-grader who attends Mitakihara middle school and is suddenly swept up into a world of magic after a fateful encounter with Kyubey, the otherworldly little critter that bestows powers upon her. She then finds herself navigating the ins and outs of being a magical girl in a not-so-magical world, and might look cute and fluffy on the outside but is willing to do whatever it takes to rid the world of witches.
