It’s hard to believe it, but the era of Mario Kart 8 is finally coming to an end with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC wave six. Nintendo announced the final batch of content during today’s Nintendo Direct, and alongside the normal smattering of HD versions of some of the best Mario Kart tracks, this latest, and final DLC features additional racers.
Returning from Mario Kart Wii are the simian siblings (or cousins, but that doesn’t sound as good) Diddy Kong and Funky Kong, fresh off appearances in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and ready to go ape on the course. Bringing up the rear is Mario Kart Tour racer Pauline, finally making a console appearance after decades of popping up in Donkey Kong games.
Then finally, and the weirdest pick by several laps, is the addition of Peachette. That’s right, the final character slot in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe doesn’t go to Professor E.Gadd, R.O.B, Mario Kart Tour’s amazing pixelated characters, or anything else quite as fun. Instead, Peachette is here, which as a reminder is the name for a Toadette, when it transforms in New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe when they grab the Super Crown. And yes, this is the Peachette that caused those Bowsette memes…
