Marvel Future Revolution burst onto the scene earlier this year, and it’s gone from strength to strength in the months since its release. Recent updates introduced impressive changes, while events, such as the collaboration with the Eternals, continue to prove popular, offering fans some fresh content and exciting story moments.
Most recently, one of my favourite Marvel characters made her debut, the Ruler of Limbo herself, Magik. Upon her first announcement, I was ecstatic, not only because I have a deep love for this mutant, but because she’s not exactly a popular choice for Marvel games. In fact, when it comes to these games, the primary options for heroes tend to be those already in MFR – Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Captain America, and so on. So, with the arrival of Magik, I got thinking, what other Marvel Future Revolution heroes would I like to see?
I will say straight away that I have a unique blend of go-to characters such as The Hulk, and underappreciated mutants such as Nightcrawler. There are, of course, many superheroes to choose from in the Marvel universe, but here are the ones I’d like to see in Marvel Future Revolution.
Since I’ve already mentioned him, my first pick is The Hulk. The mean green machine is a bit of a fan-favourite, and it’s easy to see why. Bruce Banner’s personal Hyde is one angry guy, which makes him so much fun to play as in other games. The Hulk is destructive, and let’s face it, we all like to see how much damage we can cause when performing our heroic duties. Plus, there are already several members of The Avengers in MFR, so why not bring the big guy in on the action.
Again, I very briefly discussed entry number two earlier, and that’s Nightcrawler. He was my pick back in the day on the PS2 X-Men fighting games. As you likely already know, given he’s part of the X-Men franchise, Nightcrawler is a mutant, and a unique one at that. Given his impressive abilities, he would be fun to play in the Marvel Future Revolution universe, and given that Storm is already part of the game, Nightcrawler would fit right in. But Magik has just made her debut, so it may be a while before another mutant enters the fray.
However, I just can’t help how much of a sucker I am for mutants, and that’s why I’d also like to see perhaps one of the most popular Marvel characters of all time make his debut in the mobile RPG. Wolverine would be a hit, there’s not an MFR player out there that wouldn’t welcome him with open arms, and you know what, I have hope for this one. He might not be in the near future, but since there’s a Marvel Wolverine PlayStation 5 game on the way, I feel like Wolverine’s addition to the Marvel Future Revolution cast is inevitable.
Keeping with that theme, and given Marvel Future Revolution features the multiverse, why not throw another Spider-Man into the mix? Or, more specifically, add Mile Morales to the cast. You can’t deny his popularity, from being introduced to many as part of Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 in 2018, to becoming the main character in the hit animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse. Oh, and let’s not forget the PlayStation exclusive Miles Morales for PS4 and PS5. We also know this tough kid is part of Marvel Spider-Man 2. So, like with Wolverine, it seems like fate to add Miles to Marvel Future Revolution. Plus, I like the idea of having two spiders on my team – I just hope they don’t web their pants at the infinite number of villains.
While I would love to see all of the heroes I’ve suggested, there’s a certain vigilante from Hell’s Kitchen that would fill me with joy. I feel like Ben Affleck’s less than stellar performance as Daredevil in 2003 robbed me of my chance to play as the man without fear during my childhood, and I’m still bitter about that, so please, Netmarble, take pity on me and add him to Marvel Future Revolution. I swear this is all I’ll ever ask for. The character got a redemption arc thanks to the fantastic Netflix series, so listen to the cries of his fans and give him a small screen debut.
So, those are the Marvel Future Revolution heroes I’d love to see, and I don’t think they’re too far-fetched. I believe a couple of them will arrive on the mobile open-world RPG sooner or later. If they don’t, I’ll make my own game, and there will be bad guys, and heroes that deserve a chance. Actually, forget that. I’ll curl up with a tub of ice cream and turn to Netflix or Disney Plus for my hero fix.
