The Nintendo Switch Online mobile app is a bit more useful now

While the Nintendo Switch Online mobile app has always been a little useless, that’s changed slightly with the recent 2.0.0 update bringing new social features

The Nintendo Switch Online mobile app has seen its fair share of criticism since it launched, but the recent 2.0.0 update brings some quite useful features to the app, and hopefully, signals that Nintendo plans to keep improving things.

With this update, you can now view your friend list and see what they’re playing, while also being able to change your own online status. One of the most helpful changes to the Nintendo Switch Online mobile app is that you can now view your friend code in the app, and also copy and paste it. The fact that this hasn’t been possible for almost five years is a bit baffling.

But for all the criticisms, the app is far improved in overall useability. This clearly signals that Nintendo is sticking with the app, which is fine by me as long as we continue to see more features. Just please don’t force me to use the app to voice chat in Splatoon 3. Speaking of which, check out our Splatoon 3 soundtrack deep-dive to get a feel for what the future of the series’ music holds.

How do I download the Nintendo Switch Online mobile app?

If you’re an iPhone user, just head to the Nintendo Switch Online page on the App Store and hit download. Or, if you’re on Android, you can get it on the Google Play store. Super simple. From there, just sign in and get going.

That’s everything we’ve got about the Nintendo Switch Online mobile app. The service continues to be improved, clearly, following the Nintendo Switch Online missions news.
