OnePlus Open release date rumored for new foldable

OnePlus Open release date rumors are swirling, suggesting the company will reveal the new foldable later this summer, with the launch around the same time.

On a table, there is one open foldable, looking like a tablet, next to a stylus, with an abstract background on the screen. Next to is is a closed foldable in the clamshell design, showing the time of day.

OnePlus has a new foldable in the works, as already announced, though new rumors suggest that the Open, as it may be called, will launch later this year. While the OnePlus Open release date is by no means confirmed, the rumors look pretty strong for the new tech, suggesting it could join the ranks of the best gaming phones thanks to its big screen and powerful chip.

As reported by SmartPrix, the OnePlus Open launch event will take place on August 29, this year. Another leaker, Max Jambor, also backed this up on Twitter. Jambor also revealed the possible name, as well as various high-end specs.

SmarPrix covered these spec rumors, suggesting that the OnePlus Open will feature two 120Hz displays – a 7.8-inch foldable on the inside and a 6.3-inch screen on the outside. Meanwhile, the phone is expected to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the company’s highest-end chip at the time of writing, plus 256GB of storage and 16GB of RAM. Combine this with the rumored dual 48MP rear cameras and the 64MP telephoto, and it’s looking like a proper high-end foldable.

Still, these are only rumors, and while the leakers are reliable, Pocket Tactics can’t verify any of this at the time of writing. If it all turns out to be true, however, the OnePlus Open could be some big competition in the foldable market.
