Old friends and new types are coming in Pokémon’s Indigo Disk DLC

The upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk DLC seems to be the key to a lot of the game’s lore, and this mysterious new tera type could be the answer.

In the closing ceremony of the Pokémon World Championships 2023, we learned even more about the upcoming DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, The Indigo Disk. The recent Pokémon Presents August 2023 already revealed some more details, including sneak peeks at the new paradox Pokémon, but Pokémon saved the juiciest details for the biggest event of the year.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is getting two DLCs, much like Sword and Shield did, with the first entry – The Teal Mask – releasing very soon. However, The Pokémon Company chose to focus on The Indigo Disk with these announcements. The first new feature is the addition of every single first partner Pokémon from across the generations to the game. These nostalgic Pokémon are presumably found in one of Blueberry Academy’s bespoke terrarium environments and allow you to bring your favorite starter into your Paldean adventure.

Possibly the biggest reveal was the addition of a brand-new tera-type. We don’t know much about this type just yet, but it appears to represent all of the current types at once. The symbol also looks extremely similar to The Indigo Disk’s legendary Pokémon Terapagos’ hexagonal shell, which also features all of the existing Pokémon types. Perhaps this tera-type will let you terastallize into a mix of types?

We also got more information on the two new paradox Pokémon, Raging Bolt and Iron Crown. Raging Bolt is a past paradox form of Raikou that’s an electric and dragon type. Its signature move Thunderclap allows it to attack first as it always strikes before the target’s attack. Iron Crown is a future paradox form of Cobalion with steel and psychic typing. It can use Tachyon Cutter, a new move that is guaranteed to hit twice in a row.

The Pokémon Company revealed two more new moves for us to try out in The Indigo Disk. The first is Psychic Noise, which deals damage to the target and also prevents them from healing. Then there’s Upper Hand, a move that strikes before the opponent’s priority move, allowing you to get, well, the upper hand in battle.

That’s everything we know about the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Indigo Disk DLC. We’ve got plenty of great guides for you to check out to help on your Paldean journey such as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet paradox Pokémon, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet terastal Pokémon, and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet tera raid battles.
