The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is no stranger to praise, with a huge number of positive reviews, big sales, and many awards. Now there’s another fan to add to that list, with Bethesda’s Todd Howard lauding the Nintendo Switch launch title.
In a clip from the Lex Fridman podcast, as spotted by My Nintendo News, when talking about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Todd Howard said “it’s fantastic […] it’s my favourite Zelda.” He continued by saying, “the one thing that they do really, really well is they don’t constrain you, even some of the things we do constrain you a little bit more. Zelda says ‘here’s the whole thing.’”
He finished off with some incredibly generous praise, saying “they just did a phenomenal job, it’s a magical game.” Given Bethesda’s rich history with open-world games, it’s interesting to see how much love he has for the title given how much people consider it ‘Zelda, but with some Skyrim’. Well, that and some Ghibli and Ubisoft too, if we wanna keep being reductive.
