The Witcher: Monster Slayer’s release date lands later this month

The real-life monster hunting game is coming to Android and iOS soon

CD Projekt Red and Spokko have finally announced that The Witcher: Monster Slayer will launch globally for Android and iOS on July 21, with pre-registration now open on Google Play.

For those not in the know, this one is a location-based RPG where you take on the role of a witcher and travel the Continent, dealing death to its most fearsome beasties. The game is developed and published by Spokko, an independent mobile game studio that became part of the CD Projekt Red group in 2018.

Gameplay-wise, it looks like a mix between Pokémon Go and The Elder Scrolls: Blades, with combat requiring you to block and perform directional sword swipes. Just like in the earlier Witcher games, you also have an assortment of bombs and magical signs at your disposal, which should come in handy when facing off against the many drowners, werewolves, and wyverns in your path.

Monster Slayer also seems to have some of the same investigative mechanics as its predecessors, as you uncover clues and follow trails to find your quarry. You’ll even encounter the odd merchant and NPC during your travels.
