Check the Switch news app for free Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom items

There are free Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom items up for grabs for any newshounds ready enough to open up a specific app on their Nintendo Switch.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom items header showing Link with his arm outstretched firing a blue ball of fire or maybe absorbing it. Link is a blonde boy in a blue tunic and beige pants. This is all superimposed onto a mango yellow background.

If you’re after some free Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom items, it’s not all that easy. All the duplication glitches seem to be fixed, and, unless you’ve got some Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom amiibo to make use of, you’re just gonna have to grind for the goodies. Well, that is unless you fancy catching up on the news.

Given Link is now a journalist in Tears of the Kingdom – check out the Clover Gazette quest if you haven’t yet – it only makes sense that any players diligent enough to check the Nintendo Switch news app can get rewarded. As pointed out by Nintendo Life, all you have to do is boot up your Switch, open the news app, and find the TotK news with the goodies inside.

The news you’re looking for is titled “Whip enemies into shape!” Find it, boot up TotK via the ‘play now’ button in the news story, and you get a Lizalfos Tail and a Traveler’s Sword to make a whip. Now, it’s not exactly prime-time goodies, but it’s a nice suggestion – because if you attach those two items together, you make a whip! Nice.

You need to have the latest Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom update installed, so be sure to check that.
