Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sees a 73% drop in UK sales

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s UK sales in the boxed charts may be down, but it’s still number one, becoming the sixth-best-selling Zelda game in the process.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s UK sales are down 73% in the boxed charts, though the game still holds the number one spot. The new game, as we explain in our Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom review, is pretty exquisite, if not the best Switch game we’ve ever played, so the opening weekend sales were likely massive – meaning this drop is only natural.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, drops like this aren’t exactly unusual if a game receives a lot of hype pre-release. The game’s success is clear, with it becoming the sixth-best-selling Zelda game of all time in the UK within just two weeks.

The hype has spread far and wide, too, with Breath of the Wild and Skyward Sword HD seeing sales increase – though the latter may be down to the UK supermarket Asda having the game on sale for only £15 (~$19).
