GDC Showcase kicks off today, features AMA with Shovel Knight dev

A celebration of the past and a glimpse of what's still to come

The first-ever GDC Showcase kicks off today and will run until Friday, March 19, bringing together some of the long-running conference’s greatest hits while also looking ahead to the future, namely GDC proper in July.

GDC (or Game Developers Conference), if you didn’t know, is always one of the calendar’s biggest shows for videogame developers, and it’s typically held in-person. Much like last year, however, GDC 2021 is an all-digital event scheduled for July 19-23. That’s pretty good news if you don’t have the means to haul yourself over to San Francisco.

Outside of revisiting some of the most interesting talks of GDCs past, this week’s showcase also features live AMAs with notable developers, including Ghost of Tsushima’s Sucker Punch, The Outer Worlds’ Obsidian Entertainment, Shovel Knight’s Yacht Club Games, Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Insomniac Games, and PlayStation Studios.

You can find the full schedule over on the official GDC Showcase website.

And if you want to keep up to date on the biggest titles of tomorrow, best give our lists of new mobile games and new Switch games a quick gander.
