Kirby has always been a series designed to be enjoyed by younger gamers, but Nintendo often sneak in some fun ways for adults to enjoy a challenge, with hidden collectables tucked away in some devious hiding spots. Kirby’s latest adventure – Kirby and the Forgotten Land – is exactly the same, this time with red coins offering a little extra fun for the biggest Kirby fans out there.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land shows a focus on 3D platforming, as well as the pink puffball’s amazing new mouthful mode abilities, where our favourite adorable orb can suck up everyday objects to take on their powers, including cars, vending machines, traffic cones, and many more. Uncovering all the Kirby and the Forgotten Land red coins takes the use of many of Kirby’s famous abilities, as well as the new tricks offered by mouthful mode, so it’s a fun challenge for Kirby fans new and old.

The move to 3D also means some tricky platforming, and along with the gorgeous new worlds, huge bosses, and everything else on offer, we can’t wait to get exploring the Forgotten Land with Kirby and pals. Here’s our guide to the Kirby and the Forgotten Land red coins. These coins are dotted around most levels in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, but there are a few things, in particular, you should look out for that will make it easier to collect them.

It’s best to explore every inch of a level, especially using the many new mouthful mode abilities that become available to you. If a ledge looks low enough that you can jump on it, give it a go. If something looks like it can be interacted with, try using an ability on it. There’s no limit to how many red coins you can collect when replaying levels either, so it’s a breeze to go back through areas later and make sure you’ve uncovered every nook and cranny.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land has several different types of flowers, for example, the white ones reveal a regular gold coin, but the red flowers reveal a red coin. These are hidden in some tricky places, so be sure to keep an eye out for these small flowers hidden away while you explore.

Kirby opens a water tower with his mouth, revealing a coin

Some red coins are hidden with specific mouthful mode abilities. For instance, in the demo, Kirby must use mouthful mode on a water tower to reveal the red coin within, and later, Kirby also uses a cone to open a crack in the floor, leading to another red coin. There are many more mouthful mode abilities out there waiting to be found, so make sure you explore.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land arena fights

Occasionally, a blue circle will appear on the ground, trapping Kirby in a specific arena and throwing multiple enemies for the pink puffball to deal with. These waves of enemies can be tricky to deal with, but if you survive, you’re usually rewarded with something, and often this is a red coin. Simply survive to get through these and nab that handy collectable.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land boss fights

Similarly to arena fights, Kirby also has to go up against some huge foes in boss fights. In the few you encounter in the demo, one is a giant turtle encased in concrete that’s defeated with a lunging cone strike from above, and another level features the behemoth monkey called Gorimondo, who takes a real beating to finally best. These victories always give Kirby a reward, and often this includes a red coin.

There you have it, this should help you on your quest to gather some Kirby and the Forgotten Land red coins, and you’ll rebuild Waddle Dee Town to all its glory in no time at all.
