The official Nier Automata anime website has announced that further episodes of the Nier Automata Ver1.1a series will be delayed due to rising COVID-19 infections affecting the production schedule. The first three episodes will be re-aired in Japan while we wait for the series to continue.

The first three episodes of the Nier Automata anime are available on Crunchyroll to stream, but you will have to wait a few more weeks for the series to continue. The announcement doesn’t include an exact date for the series starting again, but says to keep an eye on the official website and Twitter account.

The anime series follows the same story as the game, featuring 2B and 9S as the main protagonists. Fans have already started to spot hidden codes in the first few episodes, which is unsurprising given the complexity of the source material.

Nier Automata Ver1.1a is produced and distributed by Aniplex, which is experienced in producing anime adaptations of videogames. In the past, Aniplex has handled the anime adaptation of Ace Attorney and Persona 5.
