Nintendo Switch Online gets four new Sega Genesis games in April

April’s Nintendo Switch Online games bring us a blast from the past, adding four more Sega Genesis games to the virtual console’s already stacked library.

Video game historians rejoice as Nintendo adds four new Sega Genesis games to Nintendo Switch Online. New to the platform, that is, as most of these games originally came out in the early nineties.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass members can relive the experience of playing these games in their childhood, or experience them for the first time on the Switch. The biggest title of the bunch is Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition, Capcom’s classic arcade fighting game.

Sega’s side-scroller Kid Chameleon also makes an appearance, alongside Pulseman, an early project from Game Freak and an adorable Sega arcade platformer called Flicky. If you want to try out these games for yourself, you’ll have to be an Expansion Pass member to access them, plus a whole catalogue of other Sega Genesis and Nintendo 64 games.

These games also bring some fun facts with them. Pulseman is set in the distant year of 2015, so you can see just what Game Freak got right and wrong about human life eight years ago, and you might recognise Flicky the bird from the Sonic franchise!
