It’s time to step out of the darkness and into the light with Pokémon Go’s new Festival of Lights event. As detailed in a blog post, it’s a time to build bonds, strengthen the friendships you have with your Pokémon, and bring happiness to those around you. It’s a joyous occasion that all trainers should get involved with.

If having fun isn’t enough of a pull for you, the Pokémon Go Festival of Lights event introduces a new Pokémon to the game, and we think this creature is one you’re all going to want to get your hands on. Dedenne is making its debut in Niantic’s title, and it’s a contender for the cutest Pokémon competition. Dedenne is a fairy-electric hybrid that originally comes from the Kalos region.

Besides Dedenne, there are various Pokémon that appear more frequently as you embrace the light, including Pikachu, Magnemite, Slugma, Whismur, Electrike, Fennekin, Darumaka, and Litwick. However, if you complete field research tasks, you can encounter other creatures such as Vuilpix, Blitzle, Magmar, Electabuzz, and Litleo.

You can also give your avatar a new look with various Dedenne-inspired items, including a bag, as well as a new t-shirt celebrating the Festival of Lights.

When does the Pokémon Go Festival of Lights event begin?

It starts on November 5 and runs until November 14. During this time, not only do the above Pokémon appear more frequently, but friendship levels increase faster, while gifts provide increased rewards. You can also open up to 45 gifts per day.
