The short and sweet answer is complete the pokédex. No, we’re not joking. You must finish the entire thing, and meet every Pokémon in the Hisui region for Arceus to grace you with its presence. However, you only need to catch ‘em all – no need to worry about getting all of their pokédex entries to level 10.

Oh, and don’t worry about whether or not you have records from Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, Sword, or Shield, as you don’t need to have Shaymin, Darkrai, Phione, or Manaphy to get an audience with Arceus.

Of course, you must also complete all of the main missions except for number 27, but that task involves you catching Arceus. This means finishing the primary storyline, and the exciting few missions after it, wherein you track down all of the remaining plates.

Upon completion of the pokédex, go and speak to Professor Laventon. After talking to him, you get main mission number 27 – The Deified Pokémon. Next, as you probably guessed, you must ascend the mountain in Coronet Highlands again, returning to the Temple of Sinnoh.

At this point, you should be well versed in throwing balms at powerful Pokémon, and that’s a good thing, given that’s what you need to do here. Of course, you can weaken it faster by engaging it in a Pokémon battle when you’re able to. Our advice, bring a diverse team with you.

Arceus can change its type in battle, so ensure you have all the primary types covered. That way, you can guarantee you have attacks that are super effective. Furthermore, you don’t need to worry about catching it. Instead, you should focus on winning the battle, as your reward is Arceus offering you a piece of itself, meaning you can always call on it to fight for you.
