Samsung officially reveals One UI 6 at SDC23

While we’ve known it’s coming for a while, Samsung has used the SDC23 keynote to officially reveal One UI 6, showing off the new interface to a packed crowd.

Samsung has officially revealed the upcoming One UI 6 software coming to Samsung devices at SDC23, detailing how the sixth iteration of the user interface software improves on One UI 5. We’ve anticipated the grand reveal for a while, with the One UI 6 beta program kicking off earlier this year. Now, it looks like we’re closer than ever to the update arriving across the company’s devices.

The One UI 6 presentation segment of the keynote displayed some of the differences the update is bringing to some of the best Samsung phones, made possible by the upcoming release of Android 14. Some of the improvements include a slicker layout for the quick panel, easy-to-comprehend weather insights, and the new One UI Sans typeface, which supposedly increases readability on digital screens.

For those who are still jealous of Apple’s library of Emojis, Samsung is offering some fresh little faces to keep up via the One UI 6 update. The UI update also includes an impressive new feature to highlight Samsung devices’ powerful cameras, Samsung Studio, which makes multi-layer video editing possible just by clicking on a clip in your gallery. While still not Adobe-level video editing software, this feature makes it possible to add stickers, text, and music to your videos before you upload them to YouTube or social media.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have an exact release date for the full rollout of One UI 6, but it appears to be closer than ever. We’re expecting the flagship Samsung Galaxy S23 to be the first device to get the full update, with compatible models following suit. As soon we know more about the full One UI 6 launch, we’ll be sure to report on it. If you want to check out the other highlights from the SDC Keynote, you can watch the entire thing below.
