The XYZ Festival arrives in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel this month

Say farewell to synchros, laters to links, and farewell to fusions as the Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel XYZ festival begins this month.

The first official tournament for Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is nearly upon us, and it’s a doozy. The XYZ festival celebrates the XYZ card-type, banning synchros, fusions, and link monsters from the extra deck. This change in format means a shake-up for the meta, allowing some rogue decks to challenge for top-tier status, and puts an end to thirty-minute Drtyon combos. We love to see it.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel XYZ festival runs from February 17 – 24, providing players with a whole week to prove their worth. As no celebration is complete without the presents, Konami will gift all players who take part with medals that can earn you a good number of gems, as well as some extra XYZ cards for your collection.

If you’re looking for a deck to bring to the party, check out our Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel XYZ decks guide for all the best sets for this limited format. Or, check out our Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel guide for all the hidden tips and tricks you need to tackle the tournament.

How can I take part in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel XYZ festival?

Despite being labelled as a festival, this event is Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel’s first official limited format competition. To take part, all you need to do is go the main duel menu and select the XYZ festival option on the right-hand side of the screen. From here, you can choose your own deck, or pick out a loaner, and take it to the duel field.

What are the YU-GI-OH! MASTER DUEL XYZ FESTIVAL rewards?

As earlier mentioned, participation in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel XYZ festival offers medals that you can trade for in-game items. You receive 500 gems for a win, and 50 for a loss, so no matter the outcome you can still get some rewards.

You won’t have to spend your medals to access rewards, instead the game instantly gifts you whatever bonuses you’re entitled to when you reach a certain amount of medals. The medal rewards consist entirely of gem bonuses, varying from 20 to 200, and special XYZ festival packs that contain useful cards for the competition.

There you have it! With all that covered, you should be ready to get your game on at the first Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel XYZ festival. If you just can’t stand to duel without your trusty link cards, why not pass the time with our Magic the Gathering: Arena codes to build a different kind of deck altogether.
