How do I shield surf in Tears of the Kingdom?

It’s easy to shield surf in Tears of the Kingdom, you just have to know how to do it. Here are the steps:

  • Make sure you have a shield equipped
  • Wield it with ZR (press B beforehand if you have a two-handed weapon drawn)
  • Press X to jump up
  • Press A to flip the shield under Link’s feet
  • Surf away!

TotK’s shield surf mechanic can knock a lot of durability out of a shield, so be careful. Of course, rules in TotK are like the real world – you can’t shield surf if you’ve fused a bulky item to your shield, you’re on uneven ground, or there’s no slope, so keep that in mind.
