How do I find Hades 2 Thalamus?

Sadly, Thalamus can't just be found out in the wild as you explore from the Crossroads. This resource is actually something you need to grow in your plots, which can only be done once you cross paths with the primordial incarnation of Chaos. Once you descend into their realm for the very first time, you'll be able to harvest Origin Seeds, a pair of purple seeds, which in turn transform into Thalamus once you plant them and let them grow.

It may be tempting to jump into the first Chaos pit you find in your quest for Origin Seeds, but be warned. Just like in the first Hades game, you need to be prepared to take a fairly substantial amount of damage if you want to explore the Chaos realm, so make sure you have enough health to see you through to the end.

How do I grow Hades 2 Thalamus?

As we explained above, Thalamus can only be created through planting Origin Seeds. You need to take your Silver Shovel out on a run and interact with dirt mounds to gather Origin Seeds. You won't be able to plant them right away, as they require a particular type of soil to grow into the resource you need. You need to unlock the Flourishing Soil incantation from Hecate to get your hands on some pots of soil, and then you can finally plant your Origin Seeds to grow some Thalamus. As a prize for a job well done, Chaos will also gift Melinoë with an Origin Seed after your first trip to the surface realm.

You won't be bestowed with this life-saving plant as soon as you pot them, however. Be patient, because it takes real-world time to grow. Once planted in the Crossroads, you'll have to clear seven encounters in a run in order to return and find a fully grown Thalamus plant. Or you could simply wait in the hot springs, or in Taverna, if you've got them unlocked.

When fully grown, you'll be able to harvest two Thalamus from each Origin Seed. If you need more, just keep taking your Silver Shovel out and jump into as many Chaos pits as you can find so you can harvest seeds.

What do I do with Hades 2 Thalamus?

When you breach the surface and enter the living realm, you will immediately start to take tick damage the moment you get your first breath of fresh air. Considering Melinoë's ancestry, and the fact she is the Chthonic goddess of ghosts and nightmares, it comes as no surprise that she'd have a pretty hard time exploring past the Underworld.

Hades 2 Thalamus Unraveling of a Fateful Bond incantation

To survive topside, you need to cast the Unraveling of a Fateful Bond incantation which allows you to breathe that fresh air and feel the sunlight on your skin without burning to a crisp or choking to death. Thalamus is one of four ingredients needed for this life-saving incantation, along with nightshade, moss, and lotus. But once the incantation is performed, you'll be able to explore the surface at will.

What can I do with spare Thalamus?

Thankfully, in the mid-late game, there isn't much you need to do with Thalamus, so you can trade your extra supply in with the Wretched Broker to net you a fair amount of Kudos, the currency you need to acquire in order to decorate the Crossroads to your liking. Luckily, the game will tell you when you no longer need an item, so you can tell exactly when you need your Thalamus and when it's time to trade it in.
