Barcelona’s buzzy Mobile World Conference (MWC) 2024 is now winding down, as tech journalists from all over the world begin to think about returning home. To say it’s been a busy affair would be a gross understatement: our lead hardware journalist at the event, Connor, has gotten his eager hands on just about everything so far, from the new bendy smartphone concept from Motorola to shaking hands with an AI robot dog from TECNO. Now, with the new Honor Magic6 Pro, Connor thinks that MWC may have saved the best till last.
The Honor Magic6 Pro is an “AI-empowered” phone (a running theme at MWC this year) from the Honor tech brand, and you can forget the iPhone vs Samsung debate, because from what we’ve seen so far, it’s brilliant. This is Honor’s new premium flagship smartphone with advanced photography, display, performance, and innovative AI-powered user experience powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. That’s why Connor describes the model as “one of the swankiest smartphones across all of MWC.”
Singing the phone’s praises, he says, “Its camera [a Falcon Camera System with an 180MP Telephoto Camera Lens] is remarkable, the form factor is comfortable, and the retro-futurist design is particularly elegant compared to some of the other big Android manufacturers.”
Comparing it to the best mobiles he’s seen all year, he adds, “combine this with the Honor Magic V2 RSR, and it’s clear that this brand is really stepping up to the plate in terms of product offerings this year, with nothing but the Xiaomi 14 Ultra impressing me quite as much at this year’s conference.”
But that’s not all. The Honor Magic6 Pro seems to excel in every area. “Still, while the camera is impressive, the display is just as important to talk about.” Going into detail, Connor explains, “Not only is it visually impressive, but it utilizes the new HONOR NanoCrystal Shield screen, which is ten times more drop resistant than some of the alternatives and so scratch resistant that the brand has a robot setup to try and damage the thing all day long to no success.
Concluding his round-up of the phone, Connor summarizes that “it’s a flagship all-rounder with no caveats, and all the AI capability to boot.”
