OnePlus AI hits China in latest update for OnePlus 11 and 12

OnePlus AI updates have dropped for Oxygen OS in China, providing advanced image editing, content summary, and more, but it’s not good news for the rest of us.

OnePlus has introduced a clever software update for its OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 12 models in China, advancing OnePlus AI-driven smartphone functionalities for the Android handset series. The updates, identified as firmware versions PHB110_14.0.0.403(CN01) for the OnePlus 11 and PJD110_14.0.0.405(CN01) for the OnePlus 12, are packed with innovative features aimed at enhancing the user experience.

The new AI-powered tools, such as AI Summariser and AIGC Remover, are set to redefine user interaction with their devices. The OnePlus AI Summariser is designed to distill essential details from phone calls, capturing times, locations, action items, and more to streamline user information management. If this update has sold you on the brand, our list of the best OnePlus phones can help you pick out a new device.

Chinese OnePlus 11 and 12 users are eating well today thanks to the following additional feature; Article Summaries. Like Chat GPT and other AI services, users can pick out critical article information by tapping it. It also enhances Breeno Touch, OnePlus’s digital assistant offering, to recognize content on-screen and recommend related services to users.

AIGC Remover mimics the photo editing gimmicks made famous by the Google Pixel 6 onwards. It removes unwanted elements from images, depending on the quality of the edited photos. It’s the latest handset manufacturer behind Samsung to add this next level of photo editing to Android, bringing it closer to Photoshop-level features.

Additional improvements include the introduction of the “Device motion & orientation” permission and an upgraded fingerprint scanner functionality allowing screen unlocking without waking up the device. It also adds media control features to the lock screen, something OnePlus’s competitors (and Android) have offered for a while now.

While AI functionality is the focus of this update, OnePlus has also added enhancements to Bluetooth, NFC, and WLAN network stability, including a fix to address network signal issues underground and in other problematic areas.

The bad news is that the OnePlus 11 and 12 updates are exclusive to China for now. Worldwide Oxygen OS users should get the update at some point, but we have no idea when. We have reached out to OnePlus for any comments surrounding the update. However, users in China can manually check for the update via their phone’s Settings menu, ensuring they get all these transformative AI features.
