Niantic announced the event last month, and it promises to be a treat for Gold and Silver fans, as not only does it include second-gen ‘mon, but you get to select one of the starters to take with you.
However, in a recent blog post, Niantic unveiled Pokémon Go’s apex shadow Lugia and Ho-oh, never before seen versions of the legendary birds. Getting access to these majestic creatures is no easy feat, mind you, as not only do you need to complete the Pokémon Go Johto: Tour special research, but you need to work your way through some masterwork research. It’s a long and arduous quest, but your reward is an audience with Ho-oh or Lugia, so we’d say it’s worth it.
It’s worth noting that regardless of which version you choose, you can encounter both Lugia and Ho-oh. However, other Pokémon you encounter does come down to whether you play the Gold or Silver version of the event. Anyone familiar with the franchise at this point is all too familiar with exclusives.
How do I get tickets for the Pokémon Go: Johto event?
To purchase a Pokémon Go: Johto ticket head to the in-game shop, where you can pick one up for $11.99. However, bear in mind that you can not use in-game currency to buy a ticket, and they are nonrefundable.
What are the Pokémon Go: Johto Silver version exclusives?
If you choose the Silver version of the event, you have an increased chance of encountering various shiny Pokémon such as Cleffa, Houndour, Phanpy, and Lugia. Furthermore, you can discover the following exclusive Pokémon:
- Ledyba
- Skarmory
- Phanpy
- Delibird
What are the Pokémon Go: Johto Gold version exclusives?
Choosing the Gold version increases your chances of encountering shiny Pokémon such as Shuckle, Teddiursa, and Ho-oh. As for the exclusives, you can get your hands on:
- Gligar
- Teddiursa
- Mantine
- Spinarak
