Do you fancy yourself as a top-tier Pokémon Go trainer? If so, now’s your chance to show the world with the Go Gym Trainer contest Niantic is hosting. As a recent blog post details, this gives you the opportunity to appear in-game as a gym trainer character during the Pokémon Go Tour: Johto experience.
To appear as a Pokémon Go gym trainer next month, you need to take a screenshot of your avatar profile, and make sure it includes your nickname and character. Following that, it’s time to show which ‘mon type you favour by putting forward a bug, fighting, normal, dragon, steel, ghost, flying, or ice team. Furthermore, make sure each Pokémon you choose falls under the same category.
As for selecting these creatures, there are some restrictions in place. Unsurprisingly, given the upcoming event is set in the Johto region, all three Pokémon that make up your team must be either generation two, or generation one (the Kanto region).
Once you sort out your entry, take it to Twitter and organise a post that includes the above information, then close it out with #PokemonGOTourContest.
What is the Pokémon Go Gym Trainer contest judging criteria?
The three pieces of criteria the judges are basing their decisions on is as follows:
- The items your avatar is wearing
- Your general theme
- The connection you share with your chosen type
You have until February 1 to get your entries in. Oh, and this contest is open to everyone. There’s no need to purchase a ticket for the Pokémon Go Tour: Johto event.
Should the judging panel not select you, not to worry, as you still get to battle the trainers they choose. The perfect chance to show off how great you are, and grab some nice rewards while you’re at it.
