Spooky scary folklore influences a new indie title, getting us all excited for The Heirloom release date next year. It’s currently smashing through its Kickstarter goals and looks like it’s going to be a successful release when it’s ready.

The Heirloom’s Kickstarter campaign already has over $35,000 in the bank, way beyond its $33,000 goal – which means it’s now heading towards its stretch goals. The Heirloom is set to release on Nintendo Switch and mobile in October 2024. This is the debut title of Babubi Games, a new independent studio comprising of artist Hikanart and game designer Alex Streltsov.

The Heirloom is a mystery-filled thriller that gives us Oxenfree vibes and takes inspiration from Scottish folklore, especially in the Hebrides where it is set, and it looks like a great indie game in the making. Rebecca Wang and Andy Mack, voice actors known for Tales of Arcadia and Dying Light 2 respectively, take leading roles in the game.

You play as Marla and her young brother Jack, two orphaned children now in the care of their last surviving relative, living in Scotland’s wilds. Here, strange goings-on occur and it’s up to you to investigate and figure out just what is going on in their grandfather’s old lighthouse.

You can still grab the limited collector’s edition or some of the other unique offerings on the different reward tiers – though the collector’s edition comes with a delightful figure, so we recommend choosing that.
