What are Tower of Fantasy banners?

Banners are the different gachas you can pull on in-game in order to obtain random weapons, upgrade materials, matrices, and more. There are several types, with some being permanent, and others being time-limited, and they each require unique currencies to exchange for pulls – or, in Tower of Fantasy, ‘Special Orders’.

What’s the current limited Tower of Fantasy banner?

Limited weapon banners offer a pity system in which you are guaranteed an SR or higher every ten pulls, and an SSR after 80 pulls. The limited matric banners also guarantee an SR or higher every ten pulls, and an SSR after 40 pulls. They also offer an increased droprate on a featured SSR Simulacra or matrix, which means you have a 50% chance of pulling that featured item when you pull an SSR.

These limited banners require a different currency to the others – with the limited weapons banner taking red nucleus, and the limited matrix banner requiring a red special voucher. You can purchase both of these from the HOT shop for 150 Dark Crystals a pop.

Lyra from the current Tower of Fantasy banner

The current Tower of Fantasy banner features Lyra, a physical support character.  with a 50% rate up chance of pulling her. Lyra’s banner starts on December 23, 2022.

Here’s the probability of obtaining for all of the different item types on this banner.

  • SSR weapon: 0.75% base probability, 2% overall chance including guarantee. The SSR has a 50/50 chance of being Balmung (Frigg)
  • SR Weapon: 1% base probability, 12% overall probability (including guarantee)
  • R Weapon: 91.4% base probability, 80% overall probability (including guarantee)
  • High-Efficiency Energy Battery: 6.85% base probability, 6% overall probability (including guarantee)

The current matrix banner features a 50% droprate increase on Lyra SSR matrices. Here’s the probability of obtaining for all of the different items on this banner.

  • SSR matrix: 1.7% base probability, 4.2% overall probability including guarantee. When pulling an SSR matrix, you have a 50/50 chance of getting one from the Frigg set
  • SR matrix: 7.5% base probability, 18.5% overall probability including guarantee
  • R matrix: 90.8% base probability, 77.3% overall probability including guarantees

The Steelheart banner runs until September 21.

Standard Tower of Fantasy banners

In Tower of Fantasy, there are three standard banners that are always active.

Tower of Fantasy weapons banner

Choice Weapons: Black Nucleus Cache

This is the most basic banner, and the one you’ll likely be pulling on the most. It requires one black nucleus per pull, a currency readily available in Tower of Fantasy. You can gather Black Nucleus by completing missions, opening chests, or by simply exploring and finding them dotted around the map.

For those of you totally new to gacha, a pity system is intended to take a bit of the sting out of the RNG nature of gacha, where, after a certain number of pulls, the chance of you gaining a higher ranking item increases until, eventually, you get that SR or SRR pull. Other Tower of Fantasy banners feature a pity system, but the Black Nucleus Cache, unfortunately, doesn’t.

However, you can currently pull any of the playable Simulacra on it, along with a variety of R-rank weapons and weapon upgrade materials, and with how readily available Black Nucleus are, you’re likely to get at least a couple of decent pulls.

Here’s the probability of obtaining for all of the different item types on this banner.

  • SSR Weapon: 0.3%
  • SR Weapon: 3%
  • R Weapon: 30.7%
  • Standard Energy Battery: 5%
  • Small Energy Battery: 40%
  • Elementheart: 1%
  • Elementcore: 20%

Tower of Fantasy gold nucleus banner

Choice Weapons: Gold Nucleus Cache

Gold nucleus are a little harder to come by, so, naturally, the drops are a little more generous. As with the black nucleus, one gold nucleus can be exchanged for one pull, and it offers many of the same items shown above. However, this banner does have a pity system.

The pity system here means that the base chance for you getting an SSR weapon or SR weapon starts at a specific percentage, increasing to a higher overall chance with each pull you make up until you get that SSR or SR. You’re guaranteed one SR weapon or better every ten special orders, and one SSR weapon every 80 special orders.

Here’s the probability of obtaining all of the different items on this banner:

  • SSR Weapon: 0.75% base probability, 2% overall probability (including guarantee)
  • SR Weapon: 1% base probability, 12% overall probability (including guarantee)
  • R Weapon: 91.4% base probability, 80% overall probability (including guarantee)
  • High-Efficiency Energy Battery: 6.85% base probability, 6% overall probability (including guarantee)

Tower of Fantasy matrix banner page

Choice Matrices banner

Instead of weapons, the Choices Matrices banner is all about obtaining, you guessed it, Matrices, which you use to enhance your weapons. It requires Proof of Purchase tokens in exchange for orders, and offers a variety of handy matrices of all different types.

Like the Golden Nucleus Cache, the Choice Matrices banner has a pity system in play, which guarantees you an SR or better every ten pulls, and an SSR every 40 pulls. In addition to a random matrix, each pull grants you one base chip. Base chips are a type of currency, and you can exchange 80 base chips for an SSR matrix in the matrix store.

Here’s the probability of obtaining all of the different items on this banner:

  • SSR Matrix: 1.7% base probability, 4.2% overall probability (including guarantee)
  • SR Matrix: 7.5% base probability, 18.5% overall probability (including guarantee)
  • R Matrix: 90.8% base probability, 77.3% overall probability (including guarantee)

What’s Tower of Fantasy’s next banner?

We’re not sure what the next Tower of Fantasy banner is yet, but we’ll be sure to update this guide as soon as we find out.

Banner exhange currencies

When pulling on banners, you earn unique currencies that you can later use in the Commissary and Limited stores. Here are each of the currencies, and what banners you earn them from.

  • ToF black gold: earn by ordering weapons with gold nuclei. You can redeem it in the Commissary Weapon Store to purchase additional copies of weapons you already own, weapon upgrade materials, or gold
  • ToF base chip: earn by ordering matrices with proof of purchase tokens. You can redeem it in the Commissary Matrix Store to purchase a variety of matrices, data packs to upgrade your matrices, or gold
  • ToF flame gold: earn by ordering weapons with red nuclei. You can exchange it in the Limited Store, accessible through the limited banner page, to purchase a copy of the featured Simulacra and a matrix box for their weapon. If you don’t spend your flame gold by the end of the limited banner, it is automatically converted into black gold
  • ToF overclocking chip (rebirth): earn by ordering matrices with special vouchers. You can exchange it in the Limited Store, accessible through the limited banner page, to purchase limited matrices. If you don’t use your overclocking chips by the end of the limited banner, they’re automatically converted into base chips
