We have a Detective Pikachu Returns release date for Nintendo Switch, and boy, is it a long time coming for fans of the loveable ‘mon in an adorable detective hat. Admittedly, we don’t know too much about the game yet, at least not beyond the fact that Pikachu still has an unhealthy obsession with coffee. We also suspect that it might make our best Pokémon games list upon release.

We have no doubt that our favorite inspector is ready to solve whatever mysteries come his way. Quite honestly, many people awaited news of a Detective Pikachu rebirth after the success of the Detective Pikachu movie, starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular character.

For those unfamiliar with the Detective Pikachu series, it features the fan-favorite creature from the beloved Pokémon franchise as he attempts to solve mysteries, and yes, Pikachu talks. Nintendo released the first game on the Nintendo 3DS in 2016 in Japan, with a full worldwide release following in 2018. The following year, in 2019, the videogame behemoth announced a sequel.
