November 12, 2020: We’ve updated the recipes list to include the new recipes in the v1.1 update and added our personal favourite Recipe of the Week!
Genshin Impact is a big game with a great many complex systems at play. Yes, mastering the fast-paced combat will take you far, but cooking is an absolutely vital part of the experience, especially if you want to survive the game’s toughest dungeons. Therefore, you’ll want to search high and low for all Genshin Impact ingredients and recipes.
The foodstuff you prepare can be used to increase your stats, raise your party members from the dead, and generally give you an essential edge when delving into the higher-level Abyssal Domains. You might not feel the need to rely on your cooked meals straight away, but parties without a decent healer will still demand the health-giving benefits of Genshin Impact’s recipes.
Spread throughout the world of Teyvat are cooking pots at which to prepare your meals. You’ll have to master a simple mini-game in order to perfectly cook any of your acquired recipes, though after you cook a dish a certain number of times, you’ll unlock the ability to automatically cook that specific dish in bulk. One of the first cooking pots can be found on the road outside Mondstadt, and that’s also where you can meet adventurer Lynn. She offers a full tutorial on the basics of cooking, recipes, and Genshin Impact ingredients.
Everything you need to know about Genshin Impact ingredients, recipes, cooking, and processing
How to find ingredients
Here’s how to acquire Genshin Impact ingredients, and fast:
- Ingredients can be found everywhere in the world of Teyvat, so be sure to spend some time scouring each new area for fresh supplies
- Foraging for flowers and mushrooms is straightforward enough, but many dishes will require some sort of meat
- Fish can be found in almost any body of water, including oceans, rivers, and even at the bottom of waterfalls
- Wild boar are a great source of raw meat, just be careful not to scare them off
- Birds can be shot out of the sky with your bow and arrow or whacked with your sword if you’re quick about it
- If hunting or foraging isn’t to your liking, you can grab a number of ingredients from stores around Mondstadt, including the ‘Good Hunter’ restaurant
- Whichever way you go about it, you’ll eventually acquire hundreds of ingredients with which to start creating stat-boosting grub
How to process ingredients
Processing Genshin Impact ingredients can be a laborious process:
- Many ingredients need to be processed before they can be used in specific recipes
- You can process ingredients via the cooking menu – just slide one along from the Recipes tab.
- The problem is that turning meat into a tasty sausage takes a while, and Genshin Impact requires you to wait it out in real-time
- Each processed ingredient takes a specific amount of time to prepare, so it’s often a good idea to start processing a bunch of ingredients, then return to the cooking pot after a set amount of time
- Basically, don’t idle around the pot unless you have an immediate need for whatever dish you’re attempting to create
How to learn new recipes
New recipes can be found quite easily:
- When you first start out in Genshin Impact, your cooking skills will be somewhat limited, so don’t expect to be a master chef straight out of the gate
- Only by completing specific quests and purchasing recipes at restaurants will you expand your culinary horizons
- However, many of these recipes require you to have reached a specific Adventure Rank before they can be purchased
- Once purchased or unlocked, your fresh recipes can be found and read within your inventory
Character bonuses
Certain Genshin Impact characters have their own speciality dishes:
- The only way to find out who’s best at cooking what is to switch between characters with “May obtain special dishes” under their name in the cooking menu and have a crack at whatever recipe takes your fancy
- If you get lucky and find that you’ve got a match, you stand to create an upgraded dish with improved bonuses
- Start experimenting early on with each character in order to discover their speciality dish
Pocket Tactics’ Recipe of the Week!
In this new section, we’ll highlight one recipe a week that is nominated to be our favourite! It may be something new, something meta relevant to help with a current event, or just something that looks delicious.
To kick things off, we have to highlight the new Triple-Layered Consommé. You can buy the recipe from Chef Mao – who we can only assume is Teyvat’s answer to Gordon Ramsay – at Wanmin Restaurant once you hit Adventure Rank 40.
However, once you’ve gathered the meats and vegetables required and cooked up a delicious clear broth, drinking the consommé increases all party members’ shield strength by 25%. Granted this only works in single-player mode, but if you manage to cook up a delicious consommé its potency is increased to 30%.
So, what are you waiting for? Ready, steady, coook some consommé!
