League of Legends: Wild Rift‘s Irelia, The Blade Dancer, is a specialist in the use of swords, making a battle with her much like a dance due to her graceful movements. Hailing from Navori, Irelia learned ancient dances that she turned into a form of war. As a resistance leader, she is clearly not a woman to mess with.
League of Legends: Wild Rift Irelia is a formidable fighter, with her levitating blades and abilities that are designed to inflict pain upon her opposition. She is incredibly quick, able to slice and dice her way through anyone who stands in her path. In this guide, we will lay out her abilities, as well as the items and runes that can take this deadly fighter to the next level.
You could equip Irelia for multiple lanes; however, due to her nature as a fighter, we have devised this guide with her in the Baron lane. So, with that in mind, read on to learn about Irelia and what items you should be using.
What are Irelia’s abilities?
- Ionian Fervor
A passive ability, Ionian Fervor sees Irelia’s abilities stack her attack speed. Furthermore, if you have maxed out her stacks, the blade dancer is able to deal additional damage.
- Bladesurge
Charge through your enemies with Irelia’s Bladesurge, a fast-paced attack that sees her charge through her foes. Not only does this ability cause damage, but it will also regenerate some health for your champion.
What’s more, you can speed up the cooldown of this ability through terminating marked targets. This means that you can continue to dash about the battlefield, putting those levitating blades to good use while also regaining health. As such, we recommend that you hit specific targets, ones that will allow you to reset the ability.
- Defiant Dance
With this ability, Irelia goes on the defensive, meaning that she will take reduced damage from incoming attacks. It might just save your life, so do keep an eye on your health. Furthermore, after blocking a barrage of attacks, Irelia will be able to go on a counter-assault, whipping her blades forward to strike down her foe.
The longer you charge the counterattack, the more damage you will deal. It can prove useful, but do remember you and the enemy are not alone on the battlefield. Time your charge wisely.
- Flawless Duet
Flawless Duet, an active ability, allows you to send Irelia’s blades flying at a certain targeted location. Next, you can recast to send a second blade, creating a crossfire that can deal damage to multiple enemies.
Moreover, the blades can even damage, mark, and stun the opposition when used effectively.
- Vanguard’s Edge
Get ready to unleash a world of pain with the Vanguard’s Edge ability by throwing your blades at your enemies, dealing considerable damage and marking them. Not only that, but the blade dancer can form a wall of blades around her foes. If your enemies go through it, the wall will damage and slow them, opening them up to additional attacks from you or a teammate.
Irelia’s best build
- Blade of the Ruined King
This item offers both damage and a speed increase – two things that are vital to intensifying the threat that Irelia poses. Not to mention that landing attacks on champions gives you the opportunity to steal some of their movement speed.
- Mercury’s tread
An upgraded version of the Boots. Not only does Mercury’s tread further increase Irelia’s movement speed, but it also has the Tenacity passive ability, reducing the duration of effects such as stun, taunts, and fears.
- Guardian Angel
War is hell, and a final blow can be delivered at any time. However, if you find yourself on the receiving end of a deadly hit, it doesn’t have to be over. Equip Irelia with the Guardian Angel item to resurrect with 50% of your base health. So, feel free to get aggressive and perhaps trade your life for theirs, though you of course get to return from the dead.
- Trinity Force
There are multiple benefits to using Trinity Force, such as an increase to attack, speed, and health. You will also see a 25% increase to ability haste, which is crucial for the reuse of Irelia’s skills.
- Sterak’s Gage
The Heavy Handed passive ability allows you to cause some bonus damage. You will also receive a shield to absorb damage should an incoming attack be poised to drop you below 35% of your health.
- Warmog’s Armor
It might be worth bringing this item to battle for a nice boost to health, regeneration, and ability haste, helping you to be a bit more aggressive when tearing down your enemies.
What are the best runes for Irelia?
- Electrocute
Damage. That is what you want to deal, and Electrocute does just that. It may even finish off a weaker champion as the game goes on.
- Second Wind
As the name may suggest, Second Wind offers fighters a boost in health, specifically regeneration.
- Hunter – Genius
The more Irelia can use her abilities the better, and this rune increases haste, which boosts how frequently you can unleash her deadly attacks.
- Champion
When in a one-on-one situation in the Baron lane, the Champion rune can come in handy thanks to its increase to damage against opposing champions.
What are the best spells for Irelia?
- Flash
A spell such as Flash can prove useful for either getting in close in, well, a flash or retreating to a safer distance while you recoup.
- Ignite
Light up the competition, literally. Set opposing champions on fire and cause astronomical damage and grievous wounds while also reducing their healing effects. Well, that is that.
If one-on-one competition isn’t for you, don’t forget that you can equip Irelia for different lanes. Alternatively, you could use a different champion. Want to be a Jungler?
