Mario movie’s Peaches gives Jack Black his first solo Billboard hit

Mario movie’s Peaches, a ballad performed by Jack Black as Bowser in the Illumination animation is just another sign of Nintendo’s film success.

Jack Black has scored his first solo Billboard Hot 100 song with Peaches. The ballad is performed in the Super Mario Bros. Movie from the point of view of Bowser, and it has clearly struck a chord with fans.

As reported by Billboard, Peaches got 5.8 million U.S. streams and 6,000 downloads in its first week, through April 13. This all comes after the record-breaking Mario movie box office performance – out of all videogame adaptations shown on the big screen, the Mario movie’s highest grossing, which is very impressive.

Mario movie reviews aren’t exactly favourable, so it’s not a clean sweep for the animation. Still, Illumination and Nintendo are most likely pretty pleased with the money rolling in. This, combined with the Super Mario Bros. theme’s Library of Congress induction makes it a big year for the moustachioed man so far.
