For all weapon classes other than the bow, heavy bow gun, and light bow gun, ZL is the button you need to press to activate the wirebug – at least in most cases. For players who wield the bow, heavy bow gun, and light bow gun, you need to press R while your weapon is unsheathed to activate Silkbind attacks with the wirebug.

Using your wirebug consumes a gauge that appears at the bottom of the screen, so make sure you keep an eye on it! This gauge refills over time, and you can expand it by picking up a wild Endemic Life Wirebug.
