Is there a new Tomb Raider game in 2025? Though not 'brand new,' we have had two new Tomb Raider games so far in 2025, with the arrival of the Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered collection and the mobile port of Lara Craft and the Guardian of Light. So, the real question is, can we expect any more Lara Croft games in 2025?
Of course, whenever a new entry is ready to join the long list of Tomb Raider games, we know it's gonna be full of action and excitement. But, even if we're destined to simply relive the good old days, one look at our Tomb Raider I-III Remastered review shows you that it's a fun time revisiting the original adventures.
Here's everything you need to know about a new Tomb Raider game.
Is there a new Tomb Raider game in 2025?
The Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered collection and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light's mobile port both released in February this year. The aforementioned collection features 1999's Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, 2000's Tomb Raider Chronicles, and 2003's Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness.
Admittedly, that trio isn't the most popular among long-time fans, but it's still nice to see some classic Lara Croft adventures in a whole new light, as they're still a solid collection of action games that are sure to give you a nice nostalgic kick. Personally, I'm hoping we see a third collection that features Underworld and Legends.
As for a new Tomb Raider game, we know that Crystal Dynamics has one in the works, so hopefully, we get a little glimpse of it in 2025. We've not heard much yet, but these announcements often come out of the blue, so it could happen at any time.

New Tomb Raider game platforms
Without an official reveal, we can't know what platforms the next Tomb Raider game will come to. In February 2025, the Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered arrived on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, while Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light came out on Android and iOS.
With that in mind, Lara's next adventure could end up on any platform, especially if it happens to be another remaster of previous games in the franchise – perhaps Temple of Osiris will get a spruced-up mobile port following Guardian of Light.
However, we can't say what platforms a brand-new (not remastered) Tomb Raider game will come to. The Survivor trilogy released on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, completely skipping the Switch, but we're hopeful that Crystal Dynamics will consider the Nintendo Switch 2, as the likes of Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077 are making their way to the console this year. If we're really lucky, perhaps the Survivor trilogy will get a port to the new console one day.
What will the new Tomb Raider game be like?
This is a little bit on the nose, but you can guarantee that any new Tomb Raider games will involve searching tombs, exploring caves and ruins, fighting for survival, and searching for historic artifacts. No matter which entry into the series you play, the basics are the same: Lara has her trusty pistols (most of the time, don't get me started on their absence throughout the Survivor trilogy), some pals who are ready to help her, and an evil organization who wants to doom the world – well, cause some sort of the problem.
You can always expect plenty of action and combat, more puzzles than might feel necessary, and an inviting story that has you guessing what happens next.
The more I talk about the prospect of a new Tomb Raider game, the more I can't wait to see what Crystal Dynamics is cooking. It has a solid reputation with the franchise, being responsible for entries such as Tomb Raider: Legend, Tomb Raider, Underworld, Tomb Raider (2013), and Rise of the Tomb Raider, so Lara's future outing is in good hands.

New Tomb Raider game release date speculation
Following the release of Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered and Lara Croft Guardian of Light on mobile in February 2025, we're waiting for the official announcement of a new Tomb Raider game, so we can't even begin to guess a release date window until that time.
