How do I catch Pokémon Go Rayquaza?

In Pokémon Go, Rayquaza is only available in five-star raids. To catch Rayquaza, you must find a raid featuring the legendary creature, go to battle, defeat it, and then catch it. As a legendary Pokémon, Rayquaza is very strong. Therefore, we recommend that you enter raids with other trainers (at least four), and use Pokémon that counter Rayquaza well. You can find our list of Rayquaza counters below.

What is Pokémon Go Rayquaza’s raid schedule?

Pokémon Go’s Rayquaza and Mega Rayquaza are set to appear in Mega Raids on Sunday, August 27, 2023, as part of Pokémon Go Fest 2023: Global. While all trainers can join Mega Rayquaza raids, only Pokémon Go Fest 2023: Global ticket holders can earn the new item meteorite, which is needed to mega-evolve Rayquaza. You can find out more details on the official Pokémon Go Live website.

How do I catch shiny Rayquaza in Pokémon Go?

Like most Pokémon, Rayquaza has a chance of appearing in its shiny form when you encounter it in Pokémon Go. While the regular shiny rate is 0.2% (1 in 500), when discovering legendary Pokémon in raids the shiny rate increases to 5% (1 in 20). So, to find and catch shiny Rayquaza, enter as many raids as possible and rub your lucky rabbit foot to try and boost those odds.

How do I catch Mega Rayquaza in Pokémon Go?

Mega Rayquaza is arriving in Pokémon Go as part of Pokémon Go Fest 2023. Trainers can encounter Mega Rayquaza at in-person Go fest events in London, Osaka, and New York City from Friday, August 4, 2023, until Sunday, August 6, 2023. Then, Mega Rayquaza is set to appear at a later date as part of Pokemon Go Fest 2023: Global on Saturday, August 26, 2023 until Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Mega Rayquaza is set to appear in five-star raids, and you must use the item meteorite to teach dragon ascent and then Mega-Evolve this powerful legendary Pokémon. You can find out more about the Pokémon Go Fest dates and your local events at the Pokemon Go website.
