Theories swirl around the centre of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s map

There's a clouded area in the middle of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's map, and fans are speculating about what sort of thing may be hiding in there

A map of the Paldea region in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. IN the middle is a large stony bowl-type thing that looks like it's full of clouds. In the back is a large snowy mountain, nearer the from some sandy outcrops and whatnot. The whole thing is surrounded by a circle of water.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet may arguably be Nintendo’s biggest release of this year, and the hordes of Pokémon fans out there have mopped up every last bit of information the Pokémon Company has released. Following a recent Pokémon Presents, we got more info on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Paldea region and a brand new map along with it.

As you can see in the photo above, the middle of the map has a large cauldron-shaped basin, full of clouds and completely obscured. So, of course, you’re all speculating about the centre of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s map, taking to Reddit to consider the many possibilities.

User jjcarms5 pitched the question: what’s in the centre of the map? And answers ensued, from the cynical and sceptical to the funny and absurd. The most upvoted comment is also the most reasonable, from Sjonathon92, saying that the centre of the map holds “the 3rd legendary Pokémon and/or where Terastallize originated”. Maybe?

Others were less serious, with staygoldponyboy613 replying, “the third legendary which rides YOU instead!” Before another Redditor asked if that was NSFW. Others agreed on the idea of a third legendary, with Gdino08 saying that the centre may hold a “legendary bigger than anything else like the Red Death from How to Train Your Dragon”

Meanwhile, others are more interested in the area to the top right of the map, with tehnoodnub saying, “everyone talking about the middle and I’m fixated on the clouded area in the top right.” DLC area maybe?

Either way, we’ll just have to wait for the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet release date before we find out. Check out our Pokémon Scarlet & Violet starters and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet legendaries guides to keep up on all the latest.
