Xiaomi 13T Pro tipped to pip Samsung’s S23 Ultra for top Android spot

There are rumors that the Xiaomi 13T Pro could take on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra in the fight for the top spot among Android flagship smartphones.

Xiaomi may be nearing the release of a new flagship, the Xiaomi 13T Pro, and it’s rumored to be packed with the latest chipset from MediaTek, a 144Hz screen, and super fast charging. All this considered, it sounds like it could take on the S23 Ultra, at least on paper. The best Samsung phone is also our pick for the best Android on the market – and Xiaomi looks like it wants to knock it off the top spot.

As reported by 4gnews (via Android Authority), Xiaomi is set to launch the 13T Pro globally on September 1, 2023. It’s suggested that the phone will be a rebranded version of a Redmi phone set to launch in China soon, so we might get an idea of how the 13T Pro could perform sooner than its EU launch.

Most exciting are the rumored specs. The phone is suggested to have a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chip, which packs enough power to compete with the latest overclocked Snapdragon chip inside the Galaxy S23 Ultra. This switch to a MediaTek chip might help Xiaomi compete with Samsung, as its standard 13 Pro has the standard 8 Gen 2 chip, not the overclocked, “for Galaxy” version that is, of course, exclusive to Samsung.

Combine this with its rumored 144Hz screen and 120W charging, and it sounds like Xiaomi is trying to one-up Samsung by just a tad, with a slightly higher refresh rate and faster charging. You can check out our Xiaomi 13 Pro review to see what the company is trying to improve upon.
